Hunter Valley Bed & Breakfast - Rothbury Hotels

Hunter Valley Bed & Breakfast

1443 Wine Country Drive, Rothbury - Map
"Quiet country location"
Conveniently located with respect to central Hunter Valley restaurants and our friends in Branxton. Easily reached from the north and south and Newcastle; take the Hunter Valley Express link and turn off at Branxton. Don't go through Cessnock. A little impersonal for a B&B but we were welcomed. The kangaroos were present in large numbers.

"tranquility base!"
Loved the peace and quiet whilst sitting on the verandah watching the kangaroos and wallabies. Staff are there if needed but otherwise happy to let us get on with it! Highly recommended.

The staff were all lovely. The room was clean, but had a musty smell. Needs a lot of TLC. The atmosphere around the gardens was nice and peaceful.

"Basic, but exactly what you need for a mini-escape"
My partner and I chose to stay at Pokolbin Village for a night away together, opting not to stay at the chain hotels in the area. PV is a nice little place to stay if you're after a bed to sleep, and basic amenities. We enjoyed our overnight stay, it was relaxing especially with the aircon and pool handy on a quite stifling day. The only 'let down' would be that the room we stayed in, housekeeping seems to have missed vacuuming between the wall and bedside tables in the bedroom the last few services, and the doors and bathroom are worn. Aside from those two minor issues, the overall stay was great - staff are friendly, location is great. Would stay again :-)

Check in and out very efficient and friendly Both golfers playing 1 day at cypress lakes and 1 day at the vintage. - to compare the golf staff and the restaurant/ bar staff at the cypress lakes unfortunately we're more efficient and welcoming . We rate the experience of the the course personnel and feeling of inclusion higher at the cypress lakes whilst still enjoying the course at the vintage for it's golf quality.

"Close to wineries but lacking courtesy bus "
Our stay was pleasant & the staff were lovely. Lovely view from of the motel room, with the vineyards & watching the hot air ballooning in the morning. But for the money we payed the room was looking very tired (although very clean) A lot of the facilities are starting to look like they need an upgrade. The bathroom had a bad odour coming from it (I'm assuming its the water) so had to keep the door closed. A courtesy bus would be great, as everyone usually has had a few drinks,(most clubs, pubs & motels have them these days) trying to do the right thing by not drink driving, we found the taxi fares were a total rip off. The winery we were booked into for a wine & cheese experience (saddlers creek)we were told by the Hop on bus was out of their area & the taxi said $60 return (thats probably OK when there are a few of you but there was only 2 of us).The taxi driver ended up sitting there without a fare & didn't make anything (you would think they would do deals for when its quiet). And it was way too far to walk it. With that, the price of accommodation, drinks (were very dear at Harrigan's) & a meal it makes for a very expensive couple of days. I cant understand when you're in the wineries how it costs $9.50 for a glass of wine when you can get the same wine, out of the Hunter, for about $5.50. Overall it was a great experience overshadowed by being a very expensive couple of days for tired conditions. I don't mind paying the money for good facilities.

The Hunter Valley in New South Wales is Australia’s most visited wine region – and for good reason! With more than 150 wineries and vineyards, you can get your fix of Shiraz or Sauvignon Blanc. Take a tour of the wineries (while someone else drives so you can indulge yourself), then get involved with some of the Hunter’s other activities: spend some time in an art gallery, do some shopping or have dinner at a local restaurant. If there’s one thing the Hunter does as well as wine, it’s food. The list of classy local restaurants with delicious food is a long one, and many of them have vineyard or countryside views.

If you crave a scenic escape, you’ll love Rothbury’s hotels, including a range of cottages and cabins among the farms and fields. If you’re keen to do some shopping and maybe pick up some delightful cheese, drop into Pokolbin, which has a number of shops specialising in boutique dairy. Don’t forget about all the national parks in the Hunter Valley area, like Werakata National Park in Lovedale, which has cycling and walking tracks where you can spot wildflowers and native birds.
