The hotel staff there were really friendly and welcoming, however, the whole building smells like a stale smoker who is homeless. I had to move to a different venue, as i couldnt put up with the cigarette smell throughout the building. I walked through the gaming room to the restaurant and every 2nd person had a cigarette lit! I thought smoking was banned indoors? They also didnt clean the room, the toilet wasnt very clean, there was no soap in the bodywash, shampoo or conditioner. I would only recommend this hotel if you had to sleep outside and the weather was really bad!

This is a really nice hotel to stay at, conveniently located for both driving and public transport. It's also sat on top a pub which is great! Staff were always friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is clean and feels modern. My room wasn't the biggest, but plenty large enough as a base from which to explore Melbourne. The guest laundry is well stocked with washers, dryers, irons and detergent. It can get a little noisy at times as it's sat right next to a busy road, but mostly wasn't too bad, and generally coincides with rush hour. Good value for money and would return in the future.

Stayed earlier in the year, room, bed and bathroom all great as before. Some noise at night from trucks at rail works nearby, but didn’t interrupt to much. Bistro service great again but the food wasn’t as good as the last visit. Great service from all the staff.

An amazing great-value find. Nervous about shared amenities? Don’t be, the bathrooms are spacious, private and spotless, always. The bedroom was on the Small side but one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in. We-appointed with desk & TV, it was quiet and peaceful. The kitchen/lounge was well stocked with tea, coffee etc and comfortable to lounge in. Having the bistro and bar downstairs was great, and the Rump steak perfectly cooked. Huge thanks to Marty, Arjun and Julie who were a great laugh and really helpful. Will be back.

I booked the Royal Hotel for a weekend stay for my birthday. I used wotif for the original one night but called the hotel prior to the date to book an extra night so i was staying friday and saturday night. The manager i spoke to over the phone took my details and advise upon check in ill need to pay for the extra night. However when i went to check in they only had me checked in for the one night. The man at front desk said he ask the Assistant Manager and started serving other customers i was waiting 10 mins. Eventally a lady came over and said she wasnt sure if they had avaliability for second night. Upon further checking the notes she saw the Manager had a note that i was staying extra night. They gave me the key card but no drink card -They said i wasnt eligible as i booked through wotif although i said i called them directly. They gave us the disabled room with open shower i guess this is the only room they had avaliable. The room had no table or proper chairs they had tree stumps as bedside tables. Defintely not worth the money. As there was open shower the water would flood the bathroom causing OHS risk .The windows were not sound proof and we could hear the cars and there was a loud pipe sound that came on every half an hour. I had to go down to reception to get the hairdryer. On the saturday they cancelled our keycard as they didnt communicate re second night. It was very poor communication. I would not recommend!
