Tired room, in need of a refurb. Had to ask to change my room as there was a strong smell of tobacco. Breakfast is ok, but cheap quality. VERY noisey from the Stack

Visit St. James Stack for drinks/food and music

Good location close to St. James’ Park but can be a little noisy with traffic flow. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. King sized bed was comfortable and nice bathroom with shower only. Tea and coffee making facilities and mini fridge was a bonus. Breakfast was good, with lots of choice, however I’m not a huge fan of the help-yourself buffet. We loved Stack opposite. Great little venue with wide range of food vendors. Nice for a bite to eat and a drink before heading into town.

When we arrived the lady at reception struggled with her English which made it a long process. There is also no aircon and the fan provided was so loud with a rattle we couldn’t keep it on

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel over the last few years both midweek and on a weekend. The staff are always excellent and especially on the reception desk this time. They were very helpful with the carparking. The only complaints we have is that the breakfast could be warmer although there was plenty of choice. We are usually out and about ourselves on the evenings but as we were moving on to another hotel / venue for saturday afternoon and night we went back early and noticed how noisy it was outside. This did have an effect on our sleep even after an 8 hour drive earlier in the day. We thought we would have slept well but this wasnt the case as we slept better on our previous stays.

Nice big, comfy bed and pillows, staff friendly and helpful, room clean and well presented. Booked a junior suite, as thought it would be good to have a separate seating area, I wasn't expecting a 2nd TV so that was a pleasant surprise, it would've been easier to watch though, if it was hung lower on the wall as the seating was very close to it and at a difficult angle to watch without neck ache. Chose this hotel because of the kitchenette but had to ask for pots and pans so that we could use it. I asked 3 times for dinner plates before I got them. One of the lamps in the room didn't work and the shower gel was empty. Also washing up liquid and a sponge were provided in the kitchen, which was great but no tea towel or drying rack. Would stay again but will bring a tea towel just in case.

Great location for Football club and town

Great location right by St James' Park stadium. For fan of the football club, stay here is a must when visiting from another city. Pity there is no aircon in the room as it was hot when we visited. As we had the high floor, opening the window and gan in the room kept us cool.

The access to metro and restaurants is great. However, there was one night where I didn't have hot water in the shower. I tried to use the telephone to call reception and it didn't work either! Tried to call the phone number from Google and no one picked up. So I had to go downstairs (this was 10pm) and I've been informed they had some issues with the boiler. Had to wait until next morning. This is something that can happen, just hope it's not a regular problem. Also the carpets could be cleaned more often as it would give a better impression to guests. I liked the idea of having a microwave, kitchen sink and a frigde, so that was a very positive side of my stay. Apart from the hot water and carpets I had a good stay.

Didnt look like it had been cleaned sadly. Bathroom had areas covered in dust, hairs in the shower and on the floor. Room was very warn. Booked it to be close to the stadium which it is great for and the check in and out was super easy. Two lifts probably not enough to manage demand with the number of floors. Very noisy from the stack till quite late but theres not much the hotel can do about that.
