Olde world charm needs a bit of jazzing up

Comfortable and compact. Cleanliness was average as the hotel was a bit tired and really would benefit from a refresh. But the staff were on the ball and tried their best to welcome their guests even if the hard product was a little tatty.

Excellent staff and great location

We stay here for the annual sela cup and its the perfect base for st james park, the city centre and train station. The staff are always friendly and the bag storage even on departing is a godsend. Rooms are pleasant enough and the beds are comfy.

Good for money

Deluxe double was very large. Freshly painted. Comfortable bed. Decor is adequate and they have tea/coffee in room and microwave. We had to leave windows ajar due to fresh paint smell and it was very noisy outside due to bar crowds. Room overlooked the Hampton Hotel eyesore

Very interesting old architecture, great location, and very helpful reception staff. Charbroiled burger served in the bar was completely charred. Discount on food was not offered. Lack of functioning windows in the room and bathroom meant that the room was suffocating without any fresh air. Had to use a table-top fan. No extractor fan in the bathroom meant that the wooden window frame shows mold (room 310) which is a health hazard.

the hotel at first arranged a family room for me. but that room had no window, but only provided me with a fan. the hotel later arranged another room for me, but the light of that room was broken. i can send you photo. the condition of the facilities was unacceptable.

The taxi and Uber pick up are out front and that was convenient. Upper floor was warm. Stay on lower floors. But fancy and regal and old fashioned. You can walk out the back door to the train station literally. Way Handy!
