Property was beautiful and had good decor and amenities, But the some stay at desk were very abrupt and I see rude when some has come into a cutie they haven’t been into before and get spoken to like they should know everything especially when I spent £180 for one night for me and my daughter, And breakfast time were way to early and I was told I missed the breakfast and the lady was very rude when I asked for a refund

my child was asked for ID and when she couldnt supply it…BECAUSE SHE IS A CHILD….we were instructed to prove shes a child related to me by any means….THIS WAS NEVER EVER PROMPTED OR ADVISED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING, says in TINYYYYY words in the long 1000+ word T&Cs on the actual wesbite, eventhough i booked through expedia. once we jumped through that hurdle, we went to our concert and upon arrival back at the hotel we were very VERY rudely denied entry to the premises unless, again, we BOTH showed our ID? he was extremely rude and asking too many questions, making sarcastic and rude remarks and, frankly, mistaking his job role for that of airport security. Bare in mind we are 2 young girls and this was a 45+ year old bloke asking us where we live, what our full names are and other intrusive info at 12am eventhough the hotel itself checked us in prior and we supplied this info with them. Awful AWFUL hotel room, really disgusting and the hot water didnt work like the reviews said…no plugs or phones in the room apart from 2 plugs across the room next to the TV. Only 1 single towel in the room eventhough room was booked for 2, never ever stayed in a hotel this gross and unprofessional. Our whole hotel corridor was full of drunk men that assaulted my child to which I had to intervene and staff didnt seem to care whatsoever, this has really really frightened her. This hotel needs to be shut down asap and I will be filing a formal complaint.

Okay for somewhere to crash overnight

I’d heard conflicting reports about this hotel, but I decided to give it a try as it was within my budget. The entrance hall is beautiful, a nod to its grandiose history, so I was expecting good things after checking in. I was given a room on the first floor, at the far end of the corridor, so I thought it might be quiet, but my room must’ve been near a bar / club as the noise from below and the side street carried up. The window appeared to be single glazed, which didn’t help. The room itself was clean and tidy, with tea/coffee making facilities (though the sachets looked to be a budget brand - I brought my own coffee). A tv of a decent size, and working remote. No plug sockets near the bed, apart from the one for the lamp on the nightstand, which I didn’t unplug as there were no ceiling lights, only illumination in the main room was the aforementioned lamp plus another on a small table in the corner. The bathroom was a decent size, and did have modern lighting, but the water pressure for the shower was low, and didn’t get sufficiently hot for my liking. Also, one of the towels had black marks on it, but as it was the one for the floor and as I’m trying to reduce my carbon footprint, I turned it over and made do. Note for fellow autistic people - the electricity sounds weird and louder than other hotels I’ve been in - possibly due to the lack of modern lighting/wiring - consider ear plugs! Overall - okay for one night, but no more. Didn’t try breakfast, so no comment.

Booked a room with twin beds as staying with my 16 old grandson, spoke to hotel directly twice to emphasise must nee twin beds as sometimes hotels change sleeping accommodations, at booking they were most rude, said they needed confirmation by e mail from parents giving proof he was my grandson, waiting an hour, room radiator was hot would not turn off, not resolved extremely hot day so was stifling, lift not working resulting in big queues, I could go on & on but worst hotel EVER, not the cheapest either, something needs to be done

The property was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. The room was clean and the bed comfy. We got upgraded to a better room when we took breakfast. Our room was on the fourth floor and as only one lift was operational there was a long wait. We decided to use the stairs but that wouldn't be an option for many people as it was a strenuous climb! My main complaint is that on arrival my husband and I were asked for photographic ID. I had booked through Expedia and on double checking nothing on our confirmation emails warned of this. As we were travelling light we had left driving licences etc at home. Fortunately I had a photo of my passport on my phone or I don't know what would have happened as the person on the front desk was very insistent. They then asked for my husband's ID but fortunately another receptionist said it was OK. That made for a stressful start to our trip. As we said, we have never been asked to provide this form of ID in England before. I can see why they might need to ask for it but please could the hotel, or any agents selling the rooms give clear notice that it will be asked for.

Expected more from the hotel, dirty bathroom, changed rooms, the other seemed better condition not clean, very outdated, staff rude we couldn't check in early yet let other people check in? Eventually said we could check in, systems down that's fine but the rudeness from the staff was diabolical, told us to go downstairs and wait, no seating stood on stairwell. We went into restaurant hut could only sit for half hour. Honestly I will never stay in the hotel again, shame the building has gone to ruin. Let down by staff rudeness
