I checked fairly quickly (always a bit of a wait, but knew to expect that). Got a nice room with views over the wharf. However there was a really loud buzzing noise from the air con in the room. I went and told reception, and she basically said we don't have any spare rooms, I can move you tomorrow, but you'll have to live with it for tonight, but we'll send up the maintenance guy to see if he can help. He came up and agreed it really was quite a loud humming noise, confirmed it was from the AC, but said he couldn't fix it. So I went back to reception and this time spoke to a guy who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! He looked and confirmed the hotel was very busy, I said I literally wouldn't be able to sleep in that room as I'm a light sleeper. He'd recognised me as a fairly frequent visitor to this hotel and at no extra cost, he upgraded me to one of the suites on the 11th floor, for my entire 5 day stay. This was, to me, going above and beyond, so well done to him (I wish I'd got his name so I could single him out for praise). Any criticism? Well I was there for 5 days (4 nights) and at no point did I get fresh towels / bins emptied / room refreshed etc. But beggars can't be choosers, and I'll definitely be back again :)
