We have been awaiting your review and are not the least bit surprised by your comments, which are not reflective of your behaviour throughout your stay. It is unfortunate that there was a 40 minute regional power blackout throughout your stay. Towns beyond Daylesford were also impacted by the storms and subsequent outages. Sadly these outages are becoming a frequent occurrence, and we have no control over this. Sometimes they are brief and the power is reinstated immediately, other times it can be out for longer. Please understand that we had a restaurant full of guests and we were doing our best to take care of all these guests in addition to our in-house guests. The owner was also fielding calls from other in-house guests, explaining there was an outage, as well as dealing with a storm related leak in the building. Your unrelenting demands and abuse of our team member in front of all of our restaurant guests in not behaviour that we tolerate. Our team are working extremely hard under challenging circumstances due to widespread staff shortages. Abusing and demanding a refund, then writing a poor review because you didn’t get your way is nothing short of a temper tantrum one would expect from a delinquent, self entitled teenager. It’s also tone deaf in the current climate. Furthermore there was no rationale to your decision to leave when we were mid storm and we advised you that it was dangerous to do so. There was a severe weather warning issued for flooding and fallen/falling trees, which we also warned you about. We closed our kitchen because it’s near impossible to pack down in the dark and we decided it was the best course of action to keep our team safe. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your meal at another venue, we can only hope you remembered your manners whilst you were there. Judging our business on the unfortunate sequence of events that were beyond our control and the cause of the high stress levels of our team is poor form. Your review is written to inflict maximum pain on a small family owned and operated business that works hard, employs 40 people in a small community and operates 7 days a week, 364 days a year. We wish you a happy 2022 and hope that on your next vacation the hospitality professionals that take care of you are not subject to the same abuse.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property as we do appreciate constructive criticism so we can enhance the experience for our future guests. Unfortunately, our property is over 150 years old so it's out of our control to have all our rooms totally sound proofed. We also know some guests get disappointed with the wifi infrastructure in country Victoria when the guests are from major cities and most weekends due to the high demand this infrastructure suffers. I do apologise for the early start for housekeeping but due to the extra cleaning regime from COVID 19 our team needs to start at this time.
