We just got back yesterday from a 10-day stay at TRS Coral, and honestly, it was the worst resort experience we’ve ever had in Cancun — and also the most expensive. This was our 5th trip to Cancun, and every other hotel we stayed at was much better.
In 10 days, we had to change rooms 3 times. The first room had two queen beds instead of the king we requested. The second swim-out had an AC that wasn’t working properly and made such a loud noise we couldn’t sleep. The third swim-out had a broken cleaning system that made awful noise at night. At one point they told us it was “fixed” and wouldn’t come back, but a few days later the noise returned because they set the cleaning time back to midnight. Only two days before checkout did they finally say, “Here’s our best room available.” By then, we said no — we weren’t about to waste more time packing and unpacking again with just two days left.
On top of that, the rooms are outdated and falling apart: TVs stopped working three times, WiFi kept cutting out, the remote stopped working, and even the outlets didn’t work properly. For a place that calls itself 5-star, this is unacceptable. The hotel badly needs a remodel.
The service was just as bad. The front desk didn’t care and kept making excuses instead of fixing things. The butler service was useless — they rarely answered, and when they did, it took forever. I don’t drink alcohol, and it wasn’t until day 4 that they finally stocked non-alcoholic beer and sparkling water in the
