It's an old building with character. The staff are very helpful and one is always met with a smile. Rooms are very clean with comfy beds. I stayed here in march and enjoyed my stay so came back to stay again.

You get what you pay for...

Good points - location on the sea front, comparably cheap, all staff friendly, quick check in and out. Breakfast is basic but ok. Not so good points - whole hotel very dated and in desperate need of modernisation and repair, carpet on stairs 'fixed' with duct tape, our room had wallpaper loose off walls, peeling paint, faded pictures, missing coat hangers, no Air Conditioning but window opening restricted to about 6 inches, poor shower pressure and either hot or cold and impossible to get a constant temperature, bath tap not working and leak in bathroom sink, only a vent in the bathroom not an extractor fan. Really bad - East side of hotel is above a nightclub that blasts 'music' until 3.30am but even then still has crowds of clubbers outside shouting at each other (obviously deafened by the music volume in the club!). I will never stay here again

This hotel is going to be refurbished shortly . The bed was comfortable but the pillows were too hard. We like using the 125 year old lift. I rattles along an is slow and reliable. We always stay at the Old Ship when visiting Brighton. We know what to expect and enjoy our trip.

Slighty Dated but Ok

This is a hotel that my family have stayed in for many decades, the hotel itself looks like it needs a bit of care and attention now to be honest. Plus Side - Staff were friendly and welcoming Negative - Room - Dated, bed not the best, one side you just sank into it other side firm. Carpets an absolutely must to be looked at, stained and extremely dirty, my room carpet clearly needed replacing or several deep steam cleans to try and make it look at least presentable. First impressions count and that really put me off. Room itself looking dated and floorboards need pinning, poor people staying under me must of been wondering what was going on by me just walking around the room. It’s a nice hotel and really in a great location and I would stay again, (maybe)? maybe there just may be better updated hotels around now, I hope the Ship can look to address some refurbishement options soon.

An old hotel, old-fashioned charm and you may just get lost in one of the corridors or quaint stairways and happen upon some of the ghosts, where they meet up to catch up and impart their ectoplasmic charm. I had a super night’s sleep and was up at the crack of dawn to be greeted by the waves.

The property is in need of a makeover. Wallpaper coming off walls and my room number was written on paper!! Shower slow and either hot or cold. Everywhere smells. Toilet didn’t flush. Car park on hotels phone the lanes cost £40 overnight. Breakfast extra although I did not risk it. Cost o er £100 a night but should be hostel fee of around £40. I would avoid

Hotel in need of major upgrades. Room had stained carpets, dirty walls and table, dirty cushion and side chair, only one towel in the bath. The glass/mirrors were dirty. As we left our room, staff were entering our room with a pass key??
