Paranaque and Alabang may be part of Manila
, but from a tourist’s perspective, in many ways they are what central Manila should be. While the downtown area is stuffy, polluted and overwhelming, its southern municipalities offer a more suburban experience with its own handful of attractions. Manila hotels in Alabang or Paranaque could be just what the doctor ordered!
There’s definitely no shortage of shopping and entertainment in the area. In its town centre, Alabang has a LazerXtreme lazer tag venue - great fun for the kids and likely for many adults! The old mall it is part of has a nice atmosphere for a bit of shopping and a meal.
Malls in Paranaque have a little more going for them and here you’ll find plenty of shops, cinemas and restaurants at SM City Sucat and SM City Bicutan. If you are feeling lucky you can try your hand at the tables of Casino Filipino or Solaire Resort & Casino, which is part of the ongoing Entertainment City project that will have several integrated resorts and attractions on completion.
History and culture have a strong footing in the area as well, and nowhere more so than at Paranaque Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in the Philippines. Foodies will enjoy the fresh markets on Dr. A. Santos Avenue and Ihaw Ihaw barbecue cuisine served in stalls around the area.
At the end of the day, you can’t visit Manila and stay away from the city centre. Hop on the LTR-1 of the Manila MRT, hold your breath and make your way into town. There is a lot to see and do, and you never know, you may like Manila’s unique buzz.
So wot are you waiting for? Hop into the outskirts of Manila with an Alabang or Paranaque hotel and see a side of the city that most don’t know about. Don’t forget your flights to Manila
