"Good hotel close to city centre BUT"
My initial room 313 had non-working aircon. A male staff member came up, turned a few buttons and said 'see how that goes'. It still was not working. In other words - we are full and no other room and don't hassle me - without saying it. The next day a Phlilipina desk staff lady I spoke to, changed the room to 317 immediately and gave a free breakfast for my third day for the inconvenience.Depends what staff you talk to! My first night was bearable as there was a small table fan I could use. In other words the previous guest had the same problem. Hotel staff need [1] to report maintenance matters to be fixed promptly and [2] need be upfront when putting you in a room they already know has a problem.Otherwise a good stay as usual.

"Sightseeing & visiting family"
The Travelodge is well situated and enabled us to visit the Art Gallery, Museum, Rocks area, Barangaroo and is also close to both Central and Museum train stations; we had booked a dinner cruise on a Tall Ship and walked there and back. This is not a Luxury hotel but sufficient for our needs and good value. Breakfast was satisfactory but I got a bit bored with the same offerings after several mornings. It was good to be able to use the 30-minute free internet to enable us to complete the web check-in. Staff was helpful.

"Adequate hotel close to central Sydney. "
Very convenient location. Central station 5 minutes away and most bus services accessible within 10 minutes. It is a small hotel with only 4 floors. My floor creaked so I hope there was no one below me. The area is popular with backpackers so laundry, mending etc services are all close by.

"Good location. noisy outside rooms, hot inside one"
Great staff. Had no sleep the first night and cooked the second as air con didn't work properly. Also beware the stairs into the hotel. No wheelchair access and hard for older people or those with heavy bags.

"REASONABLE VALUE FOR MONEY IN A CONVENIENT LOCALE"
My initial reaction was very positive when I arrived early and wanted to leave my bag - staff went out of their way to oblige. I had a problem with my key when I checked in... and again a senior staff member dropped everything to solve my problem. My room , while sparse was all I needed as I didn't come to Sydney to sit in a hotel room. The activity in the 1st floor bar was vibrant - with a trivia night in progress and everyone having a convivial time. I ordered a meal (open till 9.00pm). Great meal for a reasonable price. Good beer. My room had tea making facilities which I appreciate upon waking - shower well located and roomy. Continental breakfast (included in the tariff) was exactly what I needed to get me into the day when a substantial lunch was to follow later.
