We chose the Field Guide for 2 reasons: close to Main St and fireplace in the room.
The hotel is really nice and the Trail House suite was amazing!
The fireplace was cozy and heated up the room quickly.
The bathtub was a perfect way to soak my bones after hitting the slopes.
And the proximity to Main St was good for my husband to spend time since he doesn’t ski.
I’d definitely come back!

This was my second time at this property and I appreciate that we were upgraded to a suite as it had more space. I also appreciate the water bottles and their breakfast is amazing. The quiche and croissants are amazing. They had the quiche this time but no croissants maybe they serve them only on weekends.
I appreciate that they have smart tv but they need to update the remotes and battery as the one in the bedroom didn’t work.
Also, I think they need to be more diligent when cleaning the rooms they just don’t feel very clean to me. Even the lobby it seems very dusty and the air is very heavy. I think they need to air out the rooms on daily basis and they need new curtains and some of the furnitures were stained. They should also clean behind the curtains. The bed covers were not cotton I think polyester which caused constant static electricity. The air is very very dry we couldn’t breathe my lips got chapped even with the heater turned off all night.
Everything is amazing EXCEPT the toilet! It doesn’t flush fast enough - took a while for the water tank to be filled up. Very annoying because we had to use the main building to go to the toilet. Plumber supposed to fix the next day but never did. Aiden was super helpful - she tried to fix the toilet. It was a bit better (at least we use for the “light” use)
I didn't anything about that place the bed feel like it was on the floor, they said breakfast including what they had for breakfast was croissant with cheese and coffee, the room feel like it was recording or been photograph every few minutes there was a flashing light all day long. This is not a resort!
The hotel is very stylish and has a cool retro vibe. The staff are also very attentive and location is great for exploring downtown Stowe and skiing. However, we had no hot water and took a cold shower. The walls are also paper thin, so we heard guests in other rooms (well past midnight) as if they were having the conversation in our room. We liked the hotel, but won't go back. There are other options that we would try before returning.
always a great stay here, rooms are great and homey feeling, the suites are great. big comfy beds, and the soaking tubs in the deluxe rooms are amazing!
An easy investment for the hotel is to ensure the pull out bed is fully functional. It does not lay flat with the frame over the sofa. The mattress is terrible. Quick fix with the frame and a mattress topper would create real sleep for more than 1 guest.
Otherwise a very nice accommodation and common areas are well done.
My family and I have stayed here twice and both times have been great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are cute and the breakfast is simple and delicious. My kids like to hang out in the lobby and the hotel is in a great area, close to shops and dining.
The breakfast is very good. Room is clean, staff are helpful. The location is very convenient, close to several restaurants (Bench is across street, Backyard is next door). Free Shuttle to Stowe is also near by.The only complaint is the shower water pressure is a little bit low. Will come back.
I have stayed at the Field Guide about 10 times over the past 4 years. It is a quaint and cozy spot with genuinely helpful staff. The gem of the location is the first floor of the main lodge, which features several large living room spaces with fireplaces. People solo or in groups make use of these comfortable spaces to read, play games, enjoy each other’s company. The bar area features a small menu with a selection of food and drinks. They have a fairly nice beer and whiskey selection, making use of local producers. The rooms are clean, modern and functional within a rustic woodsy structure. The Summit rooms are larger, basically small suites. The location is close to the village, several restaurants within walking distance.

This property is very cute but needs some updates. We could hear the people above us morning and night and with small children jumping on/off furniture and running was a little frustrating as we tried to relax. The water in our room only ever got slightly warm which was tough when trying to warm up. The lobby is very cute and the staff seemed friendly and helpful. Some night time entertainment that was nice to see some town members as well as travelers. Loved our fireplace in our room, and very spacious.
Overall it was a very cute place and the lobby is charming, some parts of the property might need a bit of updating.
We had some issues with the heat; we were in the separate building up the hill from the lodge. Although a very nice maintenance man came and adjusted it, it was either blasting hot and extremely loud, or completely off and quite cold. Probably just a very old system that could use updating. Probably not much insulation in the building.
