Lovely Hotel. Was our first time staying and won't be the last. Surprisingly quiet considering the location. We arrived on a Friday night and the live music playing in the Alexander bar was such a pleasant welcome. Staff were friendly and very efficient, I hadn't ordered a cot prior to arriving as I didnt think we would have my 1 year old with us. But when I asked for one on checking in it arrived about 2 min after we got to our room and was set up for us straight away. Being directly across from Southern Cross station, and for our needs across from the skybus was very suitable, as my sister needed to be on the bus at 4am to get to the airport. She didn't have to walk far and it felt safe for her at that time of day. All in all I would highly recommend.

The hotel was lovely. Good breakfast and great location. Staff are efficient but I did miss the personal touch , maybe a little more interaction with the guest. Overall a good stay.

The art deco and the front desk staff were really lovely I had an early flight but buffet was not ready for hot food by 7am and when it was served the bacon tray was cold. Ease of access to rooms and fast elevators was great.

Hotel was lovely, let down as amenities listed spa to only find out that it was only if booked full service massage or other and so not available to hotel patrons. This was misleading and probably not to be listed as amenities but more passionate facilities at a cost. No pool so expected to have a spa at end of day and not available. Room was super comfortable and staff were accommodating

We were given an ambulant room which was disappointing given what we paid and was not made aware of this on check in. Further to that, when checking in (early) we were advised our room wouldn’t be ready which was fine but that reception would call us when it was available and we didn’t receive a call. The rooms were not cleaned or serviced daily which was a huge disappointment given that the property is a premium establishment and we expected that rooms would be tended to. Staff were professional but lacked finesse especially with regard to checking in. I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

After a wonderful visit last month, I decided that the Savoy would be my forever hotel in Melbourne. Nice vibe, excellent accommodation, great for trams, trains, and the airport. Unfortunately this week's return stay ended with a sour taste, and I'm not sure I will ever go back. Why? After an excellent day out on Wednesday, I decided to have a quick drink in the hotel bar before bed. But there were no staff serving on the bar. So I waited, for quite a while. Still no staff. Eventually, I ducked round behind the bar, to see if I could get someone's attention. Nobody there. Heading for reception to ask whether the bar was already shut, I was reprimanded by one of the reception staff for going behind the bar. No apology for the lack of service, just a reprimand. At that same moment, both bar staff reappeared from wherever they had been. Lesson? If you don't want guests going behind the bar to seek service, put up a sign that directs them to seek help at reception when the bar staff are otherwise engaged.
