"Historic Hotel in unique location"
Our booking gave no indication we would be allocated a motel room in a purpose built annexe. The first room was so dark and dismal, it felt depressing. It was not at all acceptable to us. Reception obliged by offering us a choice of 2 other rooms, one being in the old hotel above the public areas which we declined. The alternative motel room was much more acceptable which we took. Of interest, it is under the direct flight path of planes to/from Perth airport. The trains also rumble close by. Dinner in the old 1841 restaurant was very good and enjoyed.

Checking in was easy, good secure parking. Room was lovely and worth the money. Good air conditioning. My only complaint was the price of in house movies, which was ridiculous.

Whether you make the half hour journey by car, or like the sound of gliding down the beautiful Swan River on a leisurely two-and-a-half-hour cruise, getting here is half the fun. Watch the cityscape peel back and give way to lush, fertile valleys and orchard-lined roads. Then wind your way into historic Guildford at the heart of the valley, decorated with antique shops, cafes and beautiful 19th-century architecture. Home to the Swan Valley Visitor Centre, this is the perfect place to get all the maps and local advice you need to make the most of your time in the Swan Valley.

The easiest way to explore the area is to simply jump on the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail, a 32km well-signposted loop that’ll guide you past more than 40 wineries, boutique breweries, restaurants, cafes and roadside stalls. It’ll also lead you past galleries and local heritage sites. But if you’d prefer to make your own zig-zag route across the valley, you’ll have a great (and sometimes hard) time choosing between it all. To really indulge in what you’re seeing – and tasting – forget about driving! Join a tour and kick back, enjoy the scenery and taste-test to your heart’s delight!

It doesn’t have to be all about the gastronomy and how big your stomach can stretch though. The Swan Valley is full of great trails so you can uncover a different side of the landscape. For coastal and country views, including the majestic boulders of the Avon Valley, take to the tracks of the Bells Rapid Walk Trail. For waterfalls and blooming wildflowers in the spring, you’ll love Noble Falls Walk Trail, or for natural bushland and wildlife encounters, opt for one of the Whiteman Park Bush Walking Trails.

If you’ve got kids you need to keep entertained, there are lots of animal parks where you can get up close and cuddly with the animals. Check out Caversham Wildlife Park, Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm, or the West Australian Reptile Park. The Maze Family Fun Park also has lots of animals to meet, as well as mini golf and a tractor maze to run wild in. The Swan Valley isn’t just about fun for the adults!

With so many wineries and gourmet food outlets, as well as walking trails, galleries and historic buildings, Swan Valley is much more than just a beautiful lush pocket of paradise just outside of Perth. There’s something to suit everyone’s holiday tastes! Don’t think about it, book it now! Check out our range of Swan Valley hotels and book one of our flights to Perth too.
