Summer fun in Chicago

The Wade was a little old and our room seemed a bit run down but tidy. The hotel staff were excellent, however, and very helpful. Free coffee was offered in the lobby in the mornings, and the room had a great working AC (essential in the Chicago summer!!!!). Lastly, we were so close to Navy Pier and the beach which was a HUGE plus!

Food options. 3 wings for $19 was crazy. 3 small pieces of bread for $10 was insane. I reserved a tub/shower and only received a shower. Had to switch rooms. Was celebrating a birthday. Then believe it or not. The manager offered a free room if we choose the right card in his hand with a pin mark. To his surprise we guessed the right one and instead said we won a $50 room credit. That was super disappointing. To the point where I still booked an extra room because my wife was disappointed. Waited 2 hrs in the lobby for the extra room. Just for the gentleman to ask if we would like to stay in the same room. So now. I have $400 on hold. It was just crazy. Just want to show my wife a good time. $1800 to switch rooms 3 times. It’s like I we was punished for staying an extra night.

This hotel has always been one of my favorite places to stay when visiting Chicago — until my most recent visit. While check-in went smoothly and the staff were incredibly friendly, the experience took a turn once we arrived in our room. My boyfriend spotted what appeared to be a bedbug on the couch. Concerned, we inspected the bed and unfortunately found bedbug shells in the seams of the mattress, along with numerous small black spots. We immediately contacted the front desk, and to their credit, they responded quickly. Security was sent to assess the situation and later informed the manager that it did not appear to be a bedbug issue — a conclusion I strongly disagreed with based on what we saw. Given that the hotel was fully booked, I couldn’t help but feel that the issue was being downplayed, possibly in an effort to avoid taking the room out of rotation. This left me worried that they might simply clean the room superficially and check in the next guest without properly addressing the infestation. We were moved to another room, but unfortunately, that one had its own issues — food crumbs on the sofa and floor, and stains on the sheets. Overall, I was deeply disappointed by how the situation was handled. This experience was far below the standard I’ve come to expect from this property.

Booked a room for a birthday(special occasion). 3 nights 4 days. No tub like the internet expressed, no bath robes. Finally got the room switched the next day. Then decided to add another night. Was told I had to check out first. Had to put another $200 on hold. So now I currently have $400 on hold. Was told I’d receive a call when the room was ready. Waited about 2 hrs. Received the call just to come to the front desk and be asked if I wanted the same room. We checked out and waited 2 hrs in the lobby to be asked if we’d like the same room. Crazy. No sure if we will be back.

I really liked location and room. Very swanky place. The conciege desk was not very helpful about digital key. Did not want to wait for only front desk associate to help. Things disappointed by were both curtains were broken so couldn’t close completely. Did not like halls and elevator were not air conditioned. It was so humid and hot. I also think $89 to park is ridiculous. Especially when I could get same parking half off on spot hero. I choice three blocks away for $29. I would stay again. Loved location!
