Just average.

Overall, the hotel was average. The location is great and the view (lake view) was beautiful. My room was pretty run down, and the air conditioning didn't work. We slept with our windows open to cool the room to a manageable level, which isn't optimal for sleep purposes when you're directly on Michigan Ave.

Location was nice but rooms were so hot. You have to open windows to cool room down then metro train was outside window. It was loud every 30 mins so we didn’t sleep for 3 nights. Finally had to switch hotels

Beautiful historic building in a great location. Rooms are comfortable, a little dated in the hallways and some areas of the massive building but lots of charm

Only slight criticism is that the room seemed outdated. However for the location and really cool history of the hotel, this place is a great value.

Complete disaster from the start. The attendant rudely let us know that there hasn’t been a valet for over 10 years and that they do not have their own parking. Next parking garage over was an additional $62/ night. No help from the attendant with luggage he said that guests weren’t even allowed to use their dolly. Then we were put on the buckingham wing which looked like a mental asylum..the beds were low to the knee, super hard no comforter and it had a horrible smell. Me and my party did not stay and we were given a full refund no questions asked which should speak volumes.

Great stay great view

The hotel is an old classics. The room was nice and windows opened. It is an old hotel so some things we did not hold against it including leaking shower and toilet that needed the handle jiggled Perfect location for food and entertainment.

Without needing to research, it’s obvious the Congress Plaza Hotel has a rich and interesting history when you step into the lobby. I had a wonderful stay and got to learn more about the hotel the as I explored around the Millennium Park/ Riverwalk area. With hotels as well established as this one, you are bound to find some double paint coated doors and chipped trim, but it is minimal for a hotel that has over a century of service on its belt. I recommend the lakeside view to elevate your stay experience. The room service breakfast was good, but there were some items ordered that didn’t make it to our room. Overall, I definitely recommend going to the Congress Plaza for its convenient and relatively safer location, access to many popular sites and restaurants, and a nice room.

I have stayed here several times. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The rooms have always been clean, although they are a bit dated. This last stay was during St. Patrick's day and there were people not belonging to the hotel that were trying to loiter in the lobby. The secuity officers were on top of things, calmiy escorting unwanted visitors out.
