We had such a wonderful time at Royal Cancun! The food was really good (even Asian night, despite other reviews), and the staff was almost all friendly, kind and fun. There is definitely a tip requirement here, so take that into account when planning your stay. The staff gets paid $20CAD/day, so of course they need tips to survive. Carlos at the beach bar, Alfredo for poolside service, and the housekeeping staff were all fantastic! We had such a great time we seriously considered a time share. And on that note, do they offer you the time share shpiel? Yes - but just gently offered in exchange for free massages or discounted tours. Dan at the desk was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. We did the presentation and it definitely went long, but Charly was friendly and funny throughout. The other guests were all friendly and kind, and there were a good number, but not too many kids around. Enough for fun and playmates for our son, without being overwhelmed by constant craziness. The sister resort you can shuttle to (Royal Sands) had a water park and was way more busy and expansive - so if you're looking for a party and tons of other people, that's the place for you. If you're looking for a quiet, family-friendly place to enjoy some sun, fun and water - Royal Cancun is it! Rarely do we repeat where we go on vacation, but we are already figuring out how to try to get back here again next year and are going to bring more family with us!

Beautiful property with wonderful staff - we have stayed here numerous times. The beach in front is gorgeous however water is a little seaweedy, there are spots with no seaweed.

We had our family vacation with three kids here 6,8&10. The unit we stayed in was really nice, and you could walk out onto the beach area, the only downside was the breathless reort beside us played music really loud until 2am every night ! I was really impressed with how clean everything was and especially our room was cleaned perfectly daily. Its a smaller resort which we didnt mind because we were so close to everything and i dont personally need a ton of resteraunt options to he happy, i could always find something i liked to order if i didnt like what was offered at the buffet. As others had said there isnt a ton to do if you need to be entertained at night but we were fine with this, as we played sports with the kids which kept everyone happy. Overall its a quieter , low key resort which makes for a nice family retreat style vacation which is what we were looking for. We did take the bus a few times to the other resort which has a lovely water park and more dining options ect. It was very nice they offered that service anytime you wanted to go! The kids really enjoyed snorkelling by the doc and the water board/boat activities.

A wonderful experience!

I recently stayed at The Royal Cancun Resort, and overall, I had a fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. During our stay, we did experience a safety mishap, but the hotel staff handled it exceptionally well. They were both accommodating and apologetic, and we were very pleased with how they resolved the situation. Their attentiveness and professionalism really stood out. One great perk of staying at The Royal Cancun is that you also have access to their sister property, The Royal Sands Resort, and your all-inclusive package applies there as well. The food at The Sands was noticeably better, and the overall atmosphere felt more lively, so we found ourselves spending a lot of time there. It really felt like getting two resorts for the price of one—a great deal! As for The Royal Cancun itself, the food was decent—some dishes were better than others—but overall, it was satisfactory. One thing to keep in mind is that this resort seems more family-oriented, so if you're looking for a party atmosphere or 24/7 bar access, you might be disappointed. Liquor service ends relatively early, which was the only downside for me. That said, I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend The Royal Cancun, especially for families or anyone looking for a more relaxed vacation. The added bonus of access to The Royal Sands made the experience even better. 4.5/5!

This place would be so great if the food and room service were better. Our family of 5 did the all inclusive plan which is also honored at their two sister locations . The food was just not great. Buffets and then if you try to order off the menu they tell you it will be an hour or more. Twice we ordered room service and it took over two hours arrived. What arrived was not freshly made food… it was food that was sent when they had time to bring it up I guess? Beautiful place. Clean, lovely . Carlos was great who greeted us. My only negative comment the entire time was the food but that is a big part of vacations
