"Good apartment close to most facilities"
Quite good though located in a fairly non descript laneway which was fairly scrappy. However, the apartment itself was comfy & clean & near most facilities. Had a sewer smell problem on one afternoon but it went after a few hours.

"Nice hotel near the water."
Only 2 problems with my room(s). * Exhaust fans in toilet and bathroom didn't seem to be working * AV on the television didn't work, I could not use it to look at photos from my camera when I connected it to the TV. Otherwise everything else is excellent. * I got a nice view from the lounge room and master bedroom. * There was plenty of space, especially in the master bedroom. * There was unlimited wifi available to me during my stay. * Hotel was close to local shops, cafes and restaurants.

"Tree View Apartment - Great location"
I visited Melbourne with my wife for a training course held west of the city out at Altona North. The Tree View apartment located at Williamstown was where we stayed and it was ideal (only 10 mins from the training course venue. Upon arriving earlier than anticipated before check-in time at the Captain's Retreat BnB office on Ferguson St, we were welcomed by a very nice lady who loaded us up with some food, a carton of milk and the key. We were very happy with the apartment. Although self-contained with a kitchen we ate out somewhere different each night of our week stay. The variety and abundance of places to eat within walking distance was enjoyed very much, except we've come home a couple of kilos heavier :-). Thoroughly recommend this accommodation. It was easy to find and get to and from my course and the Melbourne M1. The hosts are friendly and made sure we were comfortable.

    Things to do

Williamstown has a long and varied history, and Indigenous groups called the area home long before colonists arrived. It was an important site for gold mining before becoming the tourist attraction it is today. With the atmosphere of a maritime settlement, Williamstown has retained a pleasant feeling. Visit old moored boats and the Maritime Museum to learn more. There are several piers from which you can enjoy the views; many with great attractions close by. For some relaxation head to Williamstown Beach, where you can relax on the sands, paddle on the sand bar and swim in the ocean. The waves are sometimes big enough for surfing.

There are numerous historic buildings and heritage sites to explore, including the convict built Tide Gauge House, Customs House, the ornate Wilkinson Memorial Drinking Fountain, the Town Hall, the Lighthouse, and the eerie Old Morgue. There are a number of former grand and elegant hotels as well as old houses and boatyards. Fort Gellibrand was an important place during colonial times. It's never hard to find somewhere to eat and drink in Williamstown so check out Nelson's Place with its fab eateries and views, or Ferguson Street with its many restaurants, cafes and shops. And, of course, the fabulous sights of Melbourne itself are all within easy reach.
