Pros: Beautiful forest surrounds, lovely front entrance., friendly staff
Cons: Towel numbers, access to rooms by others.
Location: We did 1000 steps and Puffing Billy on Sat.
Was only given a 3 star room, only one towel provided for 2 people, was interrupted during the night with someone entering the room, loud conference party music from 8:30 to 10.

Beautiful location

Beautiful location - room was quite small, but bed was comfy. We were staying overnight - going to a wedding in the area - we booked a taxi and had to pay a $20 surcharge due to the location (mountain taxis). Not the property's fault but something to consider if you are planning to go out for the evening. Room was basic - but clean.

Basic room but nice location

Pros: Location was quiet, outlook provided serenity.
Cons: Beds were extremely hard, room small, 1 chair to sit on when 2 people are allocated to the room. Breakfast was luke warm. TV too high to watch.
Location: Very limited activities nearby. Location was down a dirt road for 2 kms but okay to travel on.
Generally an okay place to stay for a very short time. TV was located near the ceiling and too high to watch with comfort. Fridge seems to be a after thought. Only 1 chair was provided to sit on but it was a double room with 2 people. Room was small and cramped. A little out of the way for tourists but okay if you wanted a night away. Seems to be catering more for functions or the like with ground floor containing massive rooms for large numbers. No private or intimate seating areas. Grounds were very nice and large with good views. Finding a nice place for dinner locally was difficult. Don't think I would go there again.

Two nights in mountain-top beauty

Pros: The grounds, gardens, siting and common-areas are excellent and well-stocked.
Cons: Mini-fridges in the rooms so guests can keep some food items/drinks cold overnight. Change your shower heads to hand-showers for disabled guests' use.
Location: Mountain location is scenic. There's plenty of bush-walking tracks around, lots of unique cottage industry, lavender farms, pick-your-own fruit etc.
We stayed at the Country Place for two nights in late November 2015. The hotel's gardens and common-area facilities are excellent and well-stocked; the availability of coffee, teas and chocolate 24-7 is a nice touch. The staff were welcoming and the neighbourhood peaceful. On our first night, we basically had the entire place to ourselves. Probably because of the lack of guests, it seems the departing night manager forgot that we were staying and so turned off all the lights in our wing! It made for some entertaining fantasies about the zombie apocalypse! The following morning, the reception staff member was extremely embarrassed and apologetic about the lights and organised a complimentary fruit basket for our room to emphasise just how sorry the manager was for the oversight. Such gestures go a long way towards making up for small errors and overall there was no harm done. A couple of surprising things was the absence of a mini bar fridge, which would have been convenient for us, as being vegan, we usually bring much of our own food when we travel, because of the lack of available vegan eateries. So, how do you keep your Soy milk cold when there's no fridge? The other surprise was just how small the en-suite was. The space between the hand-basin and the shower was ridiculously small! Should we stay again, we'll certainly ask for a room with a proper bathroom attached.

Beautiful location and thoughtful staff

The hotel is well situated in the heart of the Dandenongs. The room was spacious, well laid out and comfortable with a view over the forest. Staff were helpful and quickly acknowledged an error they'd made, ensuring that I was looked after and compensated for the inconvenience. I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Nice hotel. View was not as spectacular as I'd hoped for.

Quiet Spot

Nice, modern, comfortable hotel in semi-rural setting on the back of Mt. Dandenong. No breakfast available which was slightly disappointing.
