Hotel Challis - Potts Point Hotels

Hotel Challis

21-23 Challis Avenue, Potts Point - Map
"Great hotel in a great location - newly opened"
The location of the Challis couldn't be better. With some great cafes and restaurants within 100m of the front door and Kings Cross a 5min walk away and Oxford St about 20mins walk, we enjoyed exploring the area. It was also about 10mins walk to the finger wharf at Wooloomaloo and a lovely stroll through the botanic gardens to the Opera House and Circular Quay. The place had only been open for a month when we stayed there so everything was fresh and new. We had a balcony room which had enough space for the 2 of us, a comfy king bed and a great balcony with views towards the harbour and city. The staff were friendly and welcoming and genuinely interested in our experience of the hotel. Great value for money in one of the best locations close to everything you need - shopping, eating and entertainment. Avoid the homogeneous high rise chain hotels and stay somewhere with character.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

1 Military Road, Watsons Bay - Map
"Great location"
We stayed following a wedding in the area. Very comfortable room, great breakfast. Wish we'd booked another night to have time to explore more. Only thing, being there a Monday morning, they emptied the recycling from the pub next door underneath our window. If you're out for a big night, pay the extra for the ocean view to avoid this.

Intercontinental Sydney Double Bay - Double Bay Hotels

Intercontinental Sydney Double Bay

33 Cross Street, Double Bay - Map
"Good location, staff & food but POOR decor"
The hotel is in the centre of the Double Bay village - with pleasant streets, trees and shops immediately around it and the harbour's edge only five minutes walk away. The staff are friendly and willing; and, the food is interesting. Sadly, the decor (carpeting, paint colour, etc.) falls somewhere between corporate and funereal - with lots of ashphalt grey. And, the pictures and sculptures in the public spaces (available for sale from a local gallery) are more kitsch than art.
