The restuarant was very good here. For amount we paid and the star rating of this place, its a far walk into town and the staff isnt very hospitable. For example when we walked into oyr room at 6pm the room was visibly half made. The bed was made but the pillows were all over the couch. When we called they didnt seem to care. The service otherwise was decent but dry and not friendly or wouldnt go out of their way to help you in any aspect.

The hotel itself was fine. Not much to say. We did have an excellent breakfast at Good Food. The blueberry bison sausage was unique and tasty. The location was absolutely perfect. Right across the street were four things: 1. An A&W fast food stop, excellent for a quick breakfast sandwich before taking those long eight-hour tours. 2. A convenience store, excellent for grabbing a lunch sandwich for those long eight-hour tours 3. A hotel stop used for all of our tour pickups. 4. The ROAM transit bus for going downtown, to the gondola, Lake Minnewanka, and more. Bus fare is free if staying at the hotel. Throughout our trip, anywhere we had to go, we just walked two minutes from our room to those bus stops and we were on our way. It could not have been easier or more convenient.

Hotel gave us the passes for bus during our stay. Even though we rented the car, we used the passes to visit around the town for hiking, shopping, eating and visiting the attractions such as gondola riding and hot springs.

The otter hotel is amazing. I wish my partner and I could have stayed an extra night. The staff was very welcoming. The room was amazing. It was newly renovated, modern yet stylish and gave you a mountain feeling. Overall an amazing hotel. The warm pool was awesome too. I will come again when I visit Banff in the future. The only downside was the price. I found the night to be a bit pricey but I guess it is due to the season and other factors.

We stayed in a king suite with a Mountain View. It was wonderful. The location was very convenient to shopping, just a short walk into the heart of town. Public transit was available also, right outside the hotel. We had breakfast at Suddenly Sally, on site, it was excellent! The room had a nice sized safe, air conditioning, refrigerator, and coffee available if you wanted.

The deluxe king room was great. However, be aware that the Mountain View balcony in the description picture does not necessarily look out onto the mountains. There are inner rooms that face other balconies maybe 20 ft away. Imagine my surprise when I opened the curtains to see a wall of other balconies facing mine. Some people were not as concerned with privacy as I tend to be—I could see directly into many rooms. It felt like being in a tenement apartment. Not what I expected for $600/night. The in room coffee/tea is interesting. At check-in They give you a small bag with your choice of Regular or decaf ground coffee or tea, and small container of cream. There is a pour over device that you put onto a mug, and a hot water maker in the room. The explanation and choices make for a longer check-in experience as you need to wait for people to get the explanation and then make on the spot choices—we were behind a group of people that needed to poll the members of their party in multiple rooms. You need to ask for more coffee to be brought up next day or stop by the front desk to get your supplies. We went to “Suddenly Sally’s” restaurant the next morning. There is a nice outdoor patio with indoor seating, as well. It was fairly empty, but they would not seat us as we had made no reservation—we ate our croissant/rolls and coffee at the bar—seemed petty. The large hot pools on the low roof, while just above the street, did face the mountains — that was lovely.
