We enjoyed our stay overall but had a couple small issues. We constantly had mosquitoes in our rooms on the main floor. Second floor room didn’t have the same problem. Also, the a la carte system is frustrating as it is pretty much necessary to book them before you arrive if you want specific restaurants. Otherwise, you have to constantly check for same day availability.

We really enjoyed our stay at Akumal and would recommend it to friends and family. The rooms are beginning to show their age but the grounds, food at the buffet and al a cart restaurants and entertainment were amazing. We loved the infinity pool and beach lounge chairs at the beach.

The adults only section with the infinity pool was very nice! Since you can access all 4 resorts, the dining options are endless. However, the resorts and buildings are very spread out, not realistic walkable distances. There are trolleys but sometimes you have to wait awhile to get the correct one. The entertainment staff was wonderful.

Villas are decrepit. Rooms are barely clean. We had to upgrade villas just to get decent air conditioning
