We enjoyed our stay at this property. All staff worked very hard to make guests enjoy their stay. Minor issues still existed but didn’t take away from the overall fun and enjoyment. Issues: 1) people from other Bahia resorts were all over our Akumal resort. Even on the beach they were all over, which made our section of the beach crowded and chairs taken. Same for pool and pool area. I didn’t pay attention if that’s the case for the buffet because then it’s not fair for us paying for luxury and having others enjoy the same level of service while paying less. 2) the TV in the room needs upgrade 3) the water was weak but we asked the reception and they fixed the issue 4) more shows as we only had 2 during our 6 nights 5) dessert section was very poor. Needs more quality options. Ice cream selection also. Would’ve been better if we had different selection. Otherwise it was amazing time especially at the adults only section for the hotel

Reservations were difficult to get. The confirmation numbers provided by Expedia at the time of booking were incompatible on the Bahia Principe app to check-in 10 days in advance and make dinner reservations, which is required if you have a hope of making reservations. I had to message the hotel through Expedia and it takes about a day or 2 to hear back.. Some people in our group tried to make reservations upon arrival at the resort and the staff seemed very unsympathetic and basically said it was our problem that nothing was available. They did absolutely nothing to help us. Some of our group could only get 1 reservation for the week but no one got reservations for more than 3 or 4 nights. The resort advertises unlimited ala cartes for luxury guests, but I would not call getting 1 reservation over 7 days unlimited. The restaurants we went to were barely half full and some were closed. You should have more restaurants open and staff to accommodate reservations from all of your checked in guests. Expedia should work with Bahia to provide booking numbers that are actually work for making dinner reservations and shouldn't leave it up to guests to figure it out on their own. At the very least the need to check-in 10 days in advance to get dinner reservations should be clearly stated on the hotel page within expedia. Lack of reservation availability makes me question returning to a Bahia resort in the future.

The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff did great with making sure we had plenty of towels and the room was clean everyday. The staff at the bars, restaurants and throughout the whole property were very nice and attentive. I did have an issue of the air conditioner not cooling very well, so I requested a fan from guest services, and the guy said he would talk to his coworkers, but I never received a fan in my room. I also contacted guest services one night to have a technician come to the room and check the air conditioner however a technician never arrived. Some friends of mine also requested a technician come check the air conditioner in their hotel room, and nobody ever came to check theirs either.

Our family stay was very good. The property is nice and well kept. Service was good so was the food. Gabriel, Marcos and Jose from the a la carte restaurants were excellent and definitely deserve a personal mention. Dinner at Ku’uk was absolutely exceptional; 5 stars! However, I was disappointed about something between Expedia and the hotel: when I made the reservation in Expedia, I was asked the ages of my children then I paid what was asked. Upon arrival and check-in, I was told that because they consider 13 to be adults, I should paid a difference. I was furious. Why doesn’t the hotel tell that to Expedia that so Expedia can charge the correct amount at the beginning and not having to deal with that especially after a long flight? It’s a big fail from both companies and a terrible customer experience. At the end, a staff meme we helped up to get this resolved. The other things that was not a great experience, was having to book the a la carte restaurants. Not all of them open everyday and they have limited availability. The daily buffet is ok but if those reservations are not made at the restaurants, it can get really boring easily food wise. Like I said, we had a very nice time but we will for sure consider other options before booking here again.

Jose is an excellent host. Pl ask for him at the reception desk. The only complaint we have is about the photography service . It’s fraud. They charge in mex n conversion rate is fixed n more than std. once you are done with the shoot the supervisor very coldly demands money. They wasted my hours. Beware if them. Hire a local photographer if you really want.

Pools full of mold, staff does not care about customers much, the privilege lied offered a free massage after the presentation and they only gave a voucher for spa, we talked with the supervisor of the privilege club he didn't care he says okay a guy who offered to you lied but not effort to fix it t all.Akumal supposed to be a Luxury service they do not have lines for drinks at the sports bar two days on the road when all the resort had no issues again guest service did not do anything to fix it.Stay away from this place.
