excellent location, beautiful beach and great snorkeling. extremely clean and well kept property. service was good but could have been more attentive (not being seated/drink orders taken at buffet, soaps/shampoos/water not replenished by housekeeping, etc). a la Cartes restaurants VERY good. buffet was fairly typical, but had lots of nice Mexican options. chair saving an issue, but staff always available at beach to help you find a spot/remove towels. great resort for lower mobility individuals as there are elevators and everything is in close proximity. extra points for the resident resort cat.

19yr Anniversary trip-Stay was very nice, dining options were good, a lot of grassy stuff would wash up on the beach every night but would be cleaned first thing in the morning. For the price it was a great value which is why we stayed here due to the budget. We were not disappointed would of been happy to stay more days if we could have. If you want a good seat by the water or cabana u will have to get up super early to claim them with your belongings. Seemed like people where up at 5 am and we weren’t doing that on vacation lol.

This is an outstanding resort we enjoyed immensely. The setting on the beach of Akumal Bay is spectacular and the extraordinarily comfortable rooms are truly “ocean front.” The staff is remarkably accommodating and the “vibe” is totally “chill.” Food was absolutely first-rate. We now consider Akumal Bay BC our favorite spot on the Riviera Maya and will be back soon.

Smaller resort with a very chill vibe. We visited during the middle of March. Beach has soft sand and shallow clear water. Not a party atmosphere, most people were either snorkeling or reading during the day. My partner and I were both able to finish two novels which felt great under the sun. Shade will be limited so be sure to relocate to the lobby bar area or snack bar, both which still have beautiful views. One complaint is people will towel reserve seating early, we only managed to grab an umbrella one day and we are early risers as well. Drinks and buffet food was fair while some restaurants lacked quality. Overall great though, didn't expect anything special and service was always friendly. Entertainment at night was a great change from shows to music and some dancing in the lobby bar. Rooms were always cleaned and felt great to stay in. We loved having an ocean front view and looking out to a sunrise every morning. Overall, We had a wonderful time but it lacked some of the final product of a 5 Star which we have usually stay at.
