This was our first time staying on the Fremont side of Vegas and I was very impressed. Everything about the hotel was lovely especially the spa discount and the hotel shuttle.

I like the El Cortez for a few reasons and have stayed there a few times, but this stay was annoying from an administrative point of view. 1) I booked a two-bed room in Original 47 through Expedia but when I got to the hotel, the front desk said they had no record of such a request even though it's in my booking confirmation. They said it was Expedia's fault and refused to provide any form of compensation. 2) They magically found a room with two beds in the Original 47 section after I unpacked, so I repacked and moved to another room. Two days later, for my last night, I arrived at my room to two people saying I had to move to a third room because there was some kind of plumbing problem. I asked if I could stay one last night and not move and they said no. Although we were all standing at the door of my room, they locked me out made me go back to the front desk to be able to get my stuff out of the second room and into the third. The hotel itself is fine. I like the Original 47 rooms, as they are reasonably clean and well-kept. The location is good for my purposes, I like being able to access my room by staircase instead of elevator, and I like that there are fridges in the rooms. But the admin stuff was annoying. Better to book directly than through a third-party site, it seems.

The El Cortez is a great spot. However there were a few issues at the cabana across the street from the main hotel. The TV was broken so I had to pack up and move to another room. The water pressure in the shower was very low and could definitely use different shower heads that are not extremely low flow. Aside from those items it was a good stay.
