    Pocket Guide: Hawaii

It’s no secret; Hawaii really is like no other place on earth. It conjures up images of a relaxed paradise, where visitors and locals relax beneath palm trees and bask in the ocean. It’s also home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, the Aloha Spirit and is the birthplace of surfing and the hula, one of the world’s most famous dances. Experience this unique destination for yourself with our Hawaii hotels!

There are six major islands in Hawaii: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii’s Big Island. Each island has something different and exciting to offer, with its own unique adventures, activities and attractions. The northernmost island of Kauai has amazing landscapes of tall mountains, deep canyons and lush jungles, making it ideal for those who want to do a bit of sightseeing. Embark on one of the region’s many hiking trails and get back to nature. Or get close to the impressive Kilauea Volcano, an active volcano that is Big Island’s claim to fame and attracts millions of visitors each year. If you’re brave enough, you can even hike or take a helicopter tour around this incredible attraction and see how thousands of years have shaped one of nature’s wonders.

Culture and history buffs will love Hawaii too, with the island of Molokai being a long-time residence to two of the most distinguished Roman Catholic Saints in recent history. Molokai is now a popular place for practicing Catholics to visit. Oahu is also a significant region with a rich yet sombre history, as it was the site of the military strikes that led the USA into World War II. Travellers from around the world come to Pearl Harbour to visit the USS Arizona and USS Missouri memorials in honour of the fallen soldiers.

No matter where you go in Hawaii, you’ll be able to explore and experience the incredible natural beauty that surrounds you. Lie on the beach with a good book (or cocktail) in hand and enjoy the warmth of the sun and sand, or cool off in the pristine ocean with a swim. Explore the world beneath the waves with a snorkelling or diving tour and come face to face with a rainbow of corals and fish. The more adventurous can catch a few waves (surfing lessons optional) or windsurf, kiteboard or skydive!

Perhaps you’re looking for a romantic, secluded island holiday. It’s hard to deny that the resorts in Hawaii are some of the most romantic in the world, and perfect for that special trip away with your partner. Or perhaps you’re looking for the perfect getaway for your entire family. With miles of beach that are perfect for building sandcastles, glass-bottomed boat rides and some of the best aquariums in the world, Hawaii truly is a perfect family destination. In fact, one of the most important Hawaiian words is "ohana", which means family.

So wot are you waiting for? Say "aloha" to this tropical paradise with our Hawaii accommodation. Don’t forget your flights to Hawaii!

"Great Comfort with plenty to offer"
We stayed at the Hilton on our final night. The rooms where great and we were right on the beach. It was expensive for what we had but it was just what we needed before a long haul flight.

"Close to beach - but not the newest of new!"
Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights at the end of a 6 week trip across Canada. Rates were ok but don't think we got much value out of the resort fee as WiFi was complimentary at all of the other hotels we had stayed at. Beds were ok but not generous in size. A\C was pleasant during the day but room was too warm at night even though we turned the temp as far down as possible. Bathroom was a good lay out with bench space if dated. Biggest issue was being able to hear the guest in the adjoining room at night! Not only couples doing their thing - but when the next group of guest moved in kids laughing and shouting at midnight! Laundry facilities were good (including coin machine) pool small - but then beach is across the road! Room service menu limited and no movies available for purchase. Our room was in the front tower and the 3 lifts had difficulty servicing the floors - there were always people waiting to get in. Buffet was average and restaurant smelt a bit damp - yes I know there is a massive fish tank but still ... avoided the "complimentary" guest pack. Parking was handy if tight!

Had a great time. Pool and beach area is fabulous. No charge for umbrellas. Local shopping is good for necessities. Need to hire a car or do tours. Check airport hire first. Very expensive at resort. Breakfast orientation fabulous, very helpful.
