Opulent rooms and grounds that instill a sense of exclusive luxury and provide a tropical swim into the life of the pampered. Let me give you some context. I and my lovely girlfriend of over 1 year arrived in July 2025 for a 5 day romantic getaway from NYC. In my opinion, this resort truly deserves its AAA rating, and I am comparing it to food, services, and spa’s in NYC. The population was mostly middle age, mostly couples, some groups of friends, no pretentious folks, a little party atmosphere some nights, mostly mature and refined folks with the random intoxicated partner on the premises. My desire to write a review is because of the impeccable attention to details and highly trained service staff that caters to you like you are ultra wealthy and famous. Delicious gourmet quality food served in a mixture of fine dining restaurants (table cloths and all), open air bars, elegant buffets too, and you can opt for the Preferred Club lounge, which will serve you exclusive self-service gourmet appetizers and top-shelf drinks. Let me try to give you some concrete and tangible details for you to interpret. The green coconut water they give you has the Secrets logo char branded into the coconut, and it’s been chilled in a cooler before they hand it to you off a serving tray. The bath towel you received after your Spa treatment with body exfoliation is in a private village designed for couples, with top-to-bottom glass walls in the shower room, and it will be warm.

This is the best resort we have stayed at in Mexico. It is an amazing property with so much to offer in terms of food, drinks, pools, entertainment, beach/snorkeling. You really don't have to leave the property at all as they have everything you need for a fabulous vacation. We came home feeling great (no stomach issues like we have experienced from past resorts in Mexico). Top notch service from an incredible staff. We will be going back.

Secrets Akumal staff go way above and beyond to meet your every need. I’ve never felt so cared for and taken care of in my life! The hospitality they provide go beyond any expectation. I was never hungry! My concierge checked in with me regularly. She even would give me a menu of what was going on on the property daily. Just outstanding service. If you got lost, a staff member, any staff member, would walk you to your destination. It was a gorgeous resort. Swim up bar and swim up pool to our room was amazing! Food was top tier! Can’t wait to stay again!

The resort is beautiful and you felt Luis got are in paradise. Our swim out room was lovely and covered by trees which offered shade from the sun. We enjoyed the dining options and the nightly entertainment which included a singing competition, shows. Karaoke, and an Akumart (shopping). Drinks were good too. The hospitality and concierge service was top notch. Properly was safe but many times we got lost when walking the property. We would revisit this property again.

Second time at this resort. 5 stars across the board from food, to resort grounds, and outstanding staff. We loved everything about our stay. (Except mother nature sent a lot of sargassum which limited beach conditions. The resort did everything possible to clean it up but it was quite challenging. We made the best of it and I got in a few opportunities to snorkel when there was less seaweed. Smell was unpleasant; but again, not the resort's fault!) I highly recommend Secrets Akumal! Love this resort and the people!

Secrets Akumal was an extraordinary experience that exceeded my expectations in many ways. The food was delicious, the pools were pristine, and the entire hotel, including our room, public bathrooms, and everything in between, was remarkably clean. Secrets Akumal truly pays attention to every detail. The beach, unfortunately, was not great due to seaweed, but this was not the hotel’s fault. They did everything possible to clear it. But the most impressive aspect of the resort was its service team. Jonas, Max, Ara, and the rest of the entertainment team were all incredibly friendly and fun. The wait staff was also excellent. Diego from Market Cafe, Raul from Portofino, Santiago from Beach Service, and many more, all provided great service and attentiveness. Our room was always clean and stocked with everything thanks to Silvia and our concierge, Leidy. I highly recommend trying this resort out. You won’t regret it.

Very nice resort food was great, restaurants are all 5 stars. Entertainment team was great always friendly and happy staff. The pool side shows and theater shows were great. Mine and Girlfriend favorite show was the Frita calo show and the voice Akumal. Fernando our concierge was informative & pleasant. Fernando from the restaurant himitsu was an amazing server & gave good recommendations. & Antonio from the pool staff was awesome and always helping us out with whatever we need and always remembered my last name whenever he saw me around the resort.
