"Overnight stay in Newcastle"
We had early morning meetings in Newcastle then afternoon meeting in Sydney. Needing a central comfortable place to stay. Room with Harbour view. Comfortable, slept well ready for the next day. Good breakfast. Late check-out as meeting went much longer than expected. Reception greeted us very well and set the tone for good night.

"Great place to stay"
We stayed for just one night but found this apartment facility fantastic. It was easy to find parking within walking distance or there is the choice of paying for security parking. As we has 3 cars this was out of the question! There is a 5 minute park outside so you can check in and unload that is most convenient. The apartment was really well appointed, spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The only comment is that we were not able to figure out how to operate the aircon to below 23 degrees so found it rather hot on a chilly night outside. (If it wasn't the middle of the night we could have called reception) The room was quiet, given it's inner city location. We will definitely return here and recommend it to anyone. There is a lovely café downstairs which provided a delicious breakfast. I left behind my makeup purse and the staff called me to organise collection of this the next day. All in all fabulous. Well done Quest!

"Nephew's surprise 30th Weekend"
Have to say we really enjoyed our stay at Travelodge Newcastle. We were down from Brisbane for our Nephew's surprise 30th and we were happy to find that it was within walking distance to where they were staying. We thought being Winter (and being Queenslanders) that we would need to use the heater in the room but found that it was a lovely temperature without it. The bed was very comfortable and the shower/bathroom was spotless. We found it very quiet (although there were a few rowdy guests on our floor on the Saturday night). Pretty sure that was payback for out 'not so quiet' return on the Friday night!

    Pocket Guide: Newcastle

Newcastle is a world-class holiday destination and the capital of the Hunter Valley wine region, offering eight sandy beaches, plenty of bush and lots of history, culture, vintage shopping and unique dining experiences. So check out our great Newcastle accommodation deals.

    Things to Do

Take the three-hour coastal walk along Bathers Way, from the iconic lighthouse at Nobbys Beach to the surfing mecca of Merewether Beach (home of Surfest, Australia's biggest international surfing competition, held in February), and enjoy the sun, surf, sand and rock pools along the way. If you've run out of steam by the time you get to the end, you can catch a bus back to the CBD.

Culture and history buffs will enjoy the Newcastle East Heritage Walk, where you can visit the Lock Up, the Convict Lumber Yard, the Customs House and Fort Scratchley Historic Site. Afterwards, you can take a free guided tour of the Newcastle Art Gallery's huge collection of historic and contemporary masterpieces before browsing some of the smaller private galleries around Darby Street and The Junction. If you love to rummage around in alternative clothing stores and retro boutiques, you'll also find plenty of those along Darby Street, as well as numerous gourmet cafes.

For a great night out, make sure you watch one of the live music performances at Lizotte's, in the King's Theatre building. You'll enjoy dinner and a show by classic rockers, as well as local up and coming talent. Another great live music venue is the Queens Wharf Brewery, where you can have a few cold beverages, while listening to local musicians, of a Sunday afternoon.
