Accommodation In West End

Move over, double-decker buses, you’re not the only iconic thing about “The Big Smoke.” The West End has planted its flag firmly in the center of the city, and between its storied theatre tradition and record-setting shopping stretch, it has certainly earned the status of being seen as quintessentially London. Sure, times have changed—you may want to leave your top hat or fascinator at home, but there is still nothing wrong with turning up for your West End, London holiday in fine threads.

Things to Do in the West End

Theatre is the face of the West End. Musicals and independent productions keep the streets packed with ticket holders humming their favourite chorus seven nights a week. When you’re not rushing to your seat to beat the dimming lights, you can still find lots to do in the West End. Explore Oxford Street, the busiest shopping strip on the continent. Stretching nearly 2 km, the street counts trendy boutiques, 3-story department stores and restaurants among its tenants. The market in Covent Garden is also quite the crowd-pleaser, and Piccadilly Circus make for an electric stop on any itinerary. Hotels in the West End of London welcome you back around the clock, so go ahead, explore into the wee hours.

Getting to & Around the West End

Getting to London is easy. Between Heathrow Airport (LHR), London Stansted Airport (STN) and the other local runways, there are hundreds of flights landing in England’s capital city each day. While flights to West End, London don’t land you in the heart of the city, the London Underground and expansive bus system lets you get to West End London hotels and attractions without causing a headache. Once you’re in London, cabs and public transit are a breeze.

Wotif always has the best deals on West End London accommodation, so grab your theatre tickets and get ready to soak in the artistic spirit of central London! The best time to book your British getaway is now.

The minimalistic, cocoon style concept behind the hotel is amazing, cosy rooms, location is great and the staff were friendly and did their best to accomodate my needs. It is great to escape back to the peace and quiet of your room after a day in the heart of London. As stated on the website, the minimalistic style means there are no windows, coffee facilities, TV, hotel phone etc. but I enjoyed this aspect. The operational/maintenance side of the hotel is a bit of a mess however. Some of the additional facilities are not complete and this should be clearly stated on the website, ideally exact months of completion instead of seasons. The lifts are a mess; some do not take you to your floor, others open with the wrong side door opening (to a blank wall!), the voice announcing what level you are on/if it is going up or down is completely wrong. Fittings/finishes in the rooms are not yet complete. Bathroom tap was missing a fitting, maintenance simply shrugged their shoulders and said it must have been housekeeping who took it. The entrance lighting switch was broken and lights flickered constantly unless down to their lowest; again maintenances' solution was to use the mirroring switch above the bed head instead of fixing the one at the door. Their solution to the light flickering was just to turn it down/off. I want to stress that front of house staff were doing their best and from what I could see, dealing with a number of complaints from other guests.
