The front desk staff were not very friendly and seems like they gave us the worst room in the building. There were 4 women in my group and they gave us the room right on the street where everyone could look in. The male at the front desk seemed surly and we were afraid to ask for anything. The service lacked the old world charm we were expecting. Room was old and kind of beat up. I'm guessing if you don't book the more expensive rooms, you get what's left.

Overall, our stay was rather enjoyable. Just something to keep in mind is that for any extra occupants more than two you will be charged an extra $30 per night. That was somewhat of a surprise when we showed up. Also, as a whole, the property itself is fairly dated. That doesn't mean that it's falling apart, but you can tell that it's been around for a while. I was a little bit surprised with some of the items in the room were pretty old. The ironing board was about ready to fall over and was damaged, and the iron itself had a the steam selection button fall off as soon as I picked it up. Other than that, the staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. Anytime I needed anything they responded extremely quickly and I think that's where this hotel honestly really shines. It's also more affordable than some of the other options nearer to the downtown area but still a very reasonable walking distance. It took us maybe about five minutes to walk to the walk to the museum down the road next to the Empress. In this area, there is a ton of shopping. The breakfast is also really convenient, there are signs that say not to go during specific peak hours, but I don't really have an issue waiting or anything like that. I would stay here again.

Quiet and accommodating.

I was really impressed about the location, which was excellent along the harbor. The staff was so accommodating, and the housekeeping staff was wonderful as well and you could tell there was a camaraderie amongst them which made for a really pleasant day. The grounds and the area was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the spaciousness of our room. The buffet breakfast was more than Adecco and had a good selection of yoghurt and cereal and cheese and scrambled eggs and sausages, etc. a small note to the chef please cut up the melon much smaller in your fruit salad. Mine kept skittering off my plate as I tried to cut it all in all we’d return and of course there’s a bonus of the tea room next-door.

Our room was clean and in good shape. We were upgraded to a loft suite. Not a big deal but probably a good option for more than 2 people. The sticking point for us was the mediocre service from the front desk staff. One staffer was fawning over an older couple while we stood there and the other did not look up and kept typing on the computer. Not impressed. I would call the property “adequate”. It’s a clean safe place to stay.

Good location- front desk staff were rude. The property is very old, rooms are musty and have stained carpet. Not worth the price that is charged.

Great for families

Excellent stay in family suite. Perfect for a family of 4. A bit dated but very clean and comfortable. Great location with short walk to the Inner Harbour and Fisherman's Wharf.
