Great Hotel (not-so-close) DT Victoria

Great hotel, swift check in, friendly reception, neat and fragrant lobby, free parking with security cameras, clean room, comfy bed, working a/c, tv and internet. Everything was great, we enjoyed our stay. You can walk downtown if you'd like but it's a bit of ways and you'll pass by sketchy areas. The people won't typically bother you but be mindful and careful with belongings and oneself. Otherwise just drive to anywhere you want to go. Hotel-wise, fair pricing for quality and location. Will stay again next time in the area 🙂

I had a very unpleasant experience at Arbutus Inn during my recent stay. I was traveling with a small pet in a carry bag and was not aware of the hotel’s no-pet policy. Instead of politely explaining the rules, the staff member at the front desk spoke extremely rudely and in a very dismissive tone. I completely understand that policies must be followed, but the way guests are treated makes all the difference. A more respectful and professional approach would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, this kind of harsh attitude left me with a very negative impression of the hotel.

I travelled alone with my daughter, I appreciated the extra door scanning security measure. It was noticeable owner takes pride in his property as it is well maintained and I appreciated the unique faucets in the bathroom.

Generally everything was really good. Clean and quiet. It seems Rooms are renovated a few years ago. The fridge even have the freezer. Only disadvantage is there is no elevator so you have to carry your luggage to upstairs and downstairs

Cute little Inn

Wonderful little two night stay at the Arbutus Inn. Best friend and I were in town for a wedding, needed something somewhat central with parking for two nights. The staff at the front desk were very friendly! Rooms were spotless, beds comfy, LOADS of parking in the parking lot, and great that your only steps away from some pubs, brunch places, Pho places and coffee shops. The rooms come with a AC unit, which was nice during the hot days. Only thing that bothered me was the "scent" that they use in the main lobby...it smells like someone dosed themselves in cologne. Its not a bad smell, just a strong smell. Like the smell hits you on the walk in! You dont smell it in the hallways or rooms, so it dosnt effect our stay. Im just shocked they would have strong smell like that in their lobby.
