So rarely do you see thoughtful, well done design. Paint colors, furnishings, even the kitchen utensils were well chosen. (I’m an interior designer). The location was convenient and walkable to all the Victoria sights! This will be our new go to place to stay in Victoria!

Helms is our GO-TO for every visit to Victoria. Great rooms, excellent staff, very easy parking and quiet! Beautiful park right across the street for those 'picnic' moments, and close to everything without "being" in the middle of everything. We're coming back soon!!!

Good place with good history. Clean corner room was large and comfy. Great location in Victoria. Note that there is no elevator if you have large luggage (they do offer to help) and parking is around $10. I’d stay again.

Small and Charming
This has been my go to for more than a decade when I’m going to Victoria. It’s an old, quaint character, hotel, which is just nicely off the beaten path and quieter than the main hotel area around the inner harbour, and less expensive. It has some charm and is a 15 minute walk from the beautiful ocean view on Dallas Road and right across the street from Beacon Hill Park. All of the amenities of downtown are just a couple of blocks away. The people who work there are friendly and I’ve always found the service to be very good and parking a lot less than some of the other downtown hotels charge.

Nearby tourist attractions but in a residential neighborhood, Helms Inn was the best of both and at half the price of Inner Harbour lodging. I enjoyed exploring the areas east and south. I also appreciated having access to a desktop to complete an online grant application before a deadline.

Location was conveniently located near the areas we needed to go. Couldn’t get the TVs (2) to work; had 1 remote and I think the batteries were low. Couldn’t get the safe to work either. We felt the bedroom had dust, and the kitchen cabinets were stained.

The pictures look nice - but they don’t really reflect a room with a door directly into the lobby between a public bathroom and vending machine. It would have been nice to have know this or be given a second option if I didn’t need immediate 24 access to public washrooms, vending machines and the lobby.

Fourth year in a row since 2021 I’ve stayed at the Helms Inn after my West Coast Trail treks. A nice property with clean, well appointed rooms. Friendly front desk staff, a clean and modern lobby with rooms to match. Rooms are clean, contemporary, and obviously renovated within recent years. In the heart of downtown Victoria, the Helms Inn is within easy walking distance of dining, shopping and tourist attractions. Will stay here again without hesitation.
