"Luxurious waterside retreat"
Almost 5 star. Will be totally brilliant when renos are complete and day spa opens. Restaurant food was outstanding for breakfast and dinner. View is stunning. Near enough to local attractions but far enough to feel a million miles away. Luxuriously comfortable. Staff friendly, helpful but not intrusive. Nice to have break-away areas to sit and read, or just contemplate the view. Try to avoid a room near air-con housing.

"42 degree day, pool unavailable"
Staff are lovely, very clean, great location, probably in need of a makeover. Arrived on a 42 degree day only to be told we could not use the pool for the entire length of our stay due to a council issue and were not offered anything for this inconvenience. Disappointed to say the least.

"Good hotel, suitable location great kitchen "
The room was good had newly installed flat screen tv , but the tv kept pixelating due to installed that day, they should sort it out soon. Kitchen was great and new facilities, the deck needs maintenance, one of the heavy curtains had been removed and was letting in extra light during the day so didnt have the option to block out that light to reduce heeat and glare coming in the lounge room. We had two tvs which was awesome with the children.

Ramada Resort Shoal Bay

"A slightly worn hotel in a good location."
We spent four nights at the Ramada, staying in a one bedroom in a building at the rear of the complex. We were expecting 'partial' sea views, but were pleased to find that we looked directly out to the sea from our lounge and balcony. It was a very pretty outlook! The bed was good, the linen was all good quality, and we had a kitchen with full size fridge, oven and cooktop. However, the couch in the lounge sunk so badly that it was more comfortable sitting on the floor to watch TV. The fridge was also extremely noisy. I've never thought about lifts before, but there were only 2 in our building and one was 'out of order - being repaired' the entire time, and the other lift was extremely slow, and we couldn't even use the stairs instead as the doors were all locked from the stairwell. We were there for 4 nights and there was no sign of any work on the broken lift this whole time. Soon after our arrival I also phoned housekeeping to report finding sand in the bed and received a very underwhelming response. Also, the 'Catch at Shoal Bay' restaurant was closed following storms that had occurred in April! There was no indication of any rectification works or when it might be reopened.

"The staff were all very helpful and pleasant."
I think the motel is in need of freshening up it is a little tired looking. The position is good and the staff excellent. The food was well presented and delicious. The trainee who served us at breakfast did a good job, and the young girl training her also needs a pat on the back, lovely staff all round from check in to check out.
