I used to stay here when it was the Mela, always enjoyed my time in this boutique theatre district hotel. It closed for a while due to covid, but is back beautifully renovated and better than ever. I loved how some of the staff remembered me. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

There was nothing unique about this property, the plumbing needs updating, magna flush and modern toilet needs to be installed, toilet backed up,no hot water in shower,air conditioner kept freezing up,maintenance had to defrost few times. This hotel needs updating. Customer pay a pretty premium and Customer should receive excellence. Auru was a huge disappointment. Also no cart available to transport luggage to room,how horrible! Get with the modern times.

Good location for sightseeing and getting both uptown and downtown, either walking or via public transport. HOWEVER, area is very noisy, busy with lots of people smoking dope loitering around.

Property was clean. Conveniently located. Quiet rooms for being so close to Times Square. Only complaint is ac was on a timer or something so would cut off every few hours making the room hot and having to get up from sleep to keep turning back on. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Comfy bed. Spacious room. Excellent location. My only gripe was the extremely noisy ac unit. We had to have it on full capacity due to our stay being in the height of summer.

1.The telephone was not connected to the wall. It was sitting on the bedside table with a cord. 2.The TV showed no signal on every channel. 3.A reading lamp on the bed was completely broken off. The lamp on the opposite side of the bed was intact, so I knew what it was supposed to look like. The room was already dark because no light was coming in through the windows. 4. Most disturbing was my feeling of being unsafe. The lock on the door would only move halfway, which I discovered five minutes before turning in for the night. There was such a gap between the door and the door facing that the hall light shone through in the dark room. There was a Kleenex stuffed into the peephole. 5. The AC thermostat was hard to control. 6. One dim overhead light went off when I walked into the bathroom. The front desk staff were friendly and did their best to compensate for the room's extreme disrepair, suggesting that I move to a new room. I chose not to go to the trouble since I might have walked into the same situation. I had prepaid, or I would have moved hotels on the first day.

Great location and good hotel

Convenient location for Times Square and Midtown sightseeing and also close by to the subway with good connection to the airport via line E. We were fortunate enough to be able to check-in early which was great although we were on the 2nd floor and close to the street noise, which wasn’t a problem for us. Hotel was clean and staff were helpful and friendly. We didn’t have breakfast next door as decided to find other local diners to eat. We tried Juniors and Carnegie, both were good although we enjoyed the indoor dining experience at Carnegie’s. Coming from London, the Times Square area reminds me a lot of the Leicester Square / Piccadilly Circus although a lot bigger! So if you’re ok putting up with the street vendors and performers then it’s fine. Great time and overall would recommend staying at the hotel.
