Not the best of my stays in Manhattan

Location is excellent, very close to Times Square and all the major attractions in the area. Front desk, in general, was not very friendly. The hotel is under renovation, there might be construction noise after 8am; as I experienced during my stay. My room was recently renovated, however, it seems the renovations were not properly done, particularly in the bathroom: no privacy, as they installed a glass barn door that cannot be locked and leave an open gap; the shower door was not leveled and it consistently open creating a puddle outside the shower. It also lacked hooks or other means to hang the used towels. Room lighting was not properly wired as reading lights will come off when the main room light switch is turned off. We also had an incident and even though the Hotel Manager took accountability, the response left a lot to be desired.

The hotel had a audible drone in the hotel room all day and night, loud enough that you could not sleep. I call it the drone of the hotel. It was through all the levels of the hotel the only place you could not hear it was in the lobby area because of the out side noise. The room was clean but needed to be updated in the worst way, old worn out dresser and night stand, the bathroom appeared clean but needed a total remodel.

I was very disappointed in the hotel room. It looked nothing like the pictures. I know that sounds foolish on my part. The overall wear and tear of the room was terrible. The air conditioner and heat did not work, and we had to keep the window open all night. I would not recommend staying at this property.

If all you care about is a place to lay your head at night- this is the place for you. However, if you want to sleep, forget it. The walls are paper thin, the bed is lumpy and two sizes smaller than it should be. NO amenities, the 3 little stained lamps did not work, the two outlets did not work, the heat nor air did not work (it was stifling on Jan. 16-19th in our room). The carpet is stained and coming up in spots ( hall and bathroom). The wallpaper is stained and also around 50 years old. The safes don’t work. The faucets leaked. Don’t believe all the good reviews on ANY site ( like I did). The reviews are not even close. There are no “room renovations being made”. The hotel employees hear the same complaints over and over. Our nice reward ignored. The management does not care. Don’t stay here unless you want to be in a room that is not much better than a Motel six. They also charged an extra $150 up front for some reason-our bill was prepaid via Expedia. I also made this review upon checking in and never heard anything. No ones cares anymore. Don’t stay here.

Not all impressed with the lobby decor nor cleanliness. Elevators and hallways are quite shabby and in need of paint, lighting and new carpets. Our room is not air conditioned and it is 77 degrees in here; staff suggested we open a window. On 7th Avenue in New York City! I chose this hotel for the location to the theatre we were attending. NOT as pictured on Travelocity. AND, I was charged twice for incidentals on my credit card, after I prepaid for my stay on Travelocity. Staff were very good. Hotel is not great. Disappointed.

This was a complete, absolute rip-off. The front desk confirmed for me that in the advertisements, they showed the renovated rooms. I can tell, because the pictures looked way better than the real thing. Only the lobby and the outside looked like the picture. As soon as we got off the elevator, the hallway looked dingy and like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. We get to our room and it’s the same story. In fact, we found hairs on the bed. We had to go ask for a new set of sheets. The wallpaper was peeling in places. Not only did the phone not work, which meant every complaint meant going back down to the front desk (which I did at least three times), but the tv didn’t work either. No signal, it would say no matter what channel it was on. Maintenance was unable to fix it as well. I know I wasn’t the only person with complaints either because there were several people in the lobby every time I went there. Several of them had no heat, and it was below freezing outside. The fact we had heat and a view of Times Square were the only good things about our room. We didn’t even use the shower because of the unexplainable yellow stains we saw on the shower floor. I have pictures of everything I mentioned above, as well. The front desk claimed there were no other available rooms we could be moved to, either. This was supposed to be my and my girlfriend’s first getaway together and the hotel’s conditions were horrible.
