History

Named after the very first U.S president, Washington is America’s 13th most populated state and the resting place of Kennewick Man, one of the oldest human skeletons ever found.

Cities and towns

Start in Seattle with a tour of the Space Needle, visit the Seattle Aquarium, and then finish things up at the Museum of Flight to see all kinds of out-of-this-world sights, like space suits and the Apollo lunar module.

Shopping and dining

There are decent-sized shopping malls throughout Washington State, from Burlington to Spokane and beyond. Pioneer Square is a shopping district in Seattle and the location of the very first Starbucks. Seattle has several shopping neighbourhoods, including Georgetown and the upmarket Chevy Chase, as well as curiosity shops and cool record stores. And since Washington is a huge state, it figures that you can find just about anything you like food-wise, whether it’s a cafe meal, African cuisine or a steak.
