Best Western Plus The Tudor-Box Hill

The stay was comfortable. We checked in at noon After coming ftom tasmania. We were there a busy weekend. Kitchen very small. A maid came barging in not long after we had lain down to check the mini bar which was a bit rude. The rate was fair. Would stay again.

"comfortable, clean & tidy, well appointed room"
Overall a nice experience. Early check in was available for me, room was very clean & tidy. Just a couple of things could be improved on. Curtains that actually cover the whole window, housekeeping on Sundays please and the exterior lights being turned off earlier and turned back on later in the morning.

    Pocket Guide: Box Hill

Get a taste of Asia just a stone's throw away from the Melbourne CBD. Stay in one of our Box Hill hotels and you'll enjoy Asian heritage, in this town that was settled 150 years ago, and is now mostly populated by north-east and south-east Asians.

Seeing as this is the Asian corner of Melbourne, it's no surprise that Box Hill's biggest annual event is the Chinese New Year Festival in January/February. The Moon Festival, in September, is just as popular. Here, you'll watch as beautiful lanterns are released into the sky. There are also live performances and food stalls. Another popular event is the Spring Festival in October, where there are free rides and entertainment, as well as face painting for the kids, and a teddy bears' picnic. No matter what time of year you're here, you can visit the Box Hill Community Arts Centre, which showcases beautiful local artwork and architecture. You can learn all about Box Hill's heritage at the Town Hall, which is an Art Deco style building also home to the Whitehorse Artspace gallery. The Old Brickworks is another landmark, where you can learn more about Box Hill's heritage. Here, you'll uncover the secrets to the town's brick making process, from the 1880s until 1988. For an afternoon out in the sunshine, head to the Box Hill Gardens, where there are playgrounds, a duck pond, barbecues and pretty picnic spots. The Box Hill Miniature Steam Railway is a great attraction to take the kids to, and the railway is fully operational on the third Sunday of the month. On the other hand, if you want to kick or hit a ball around, the Box Hill Action Indoor Sports Centre has facilities for a wide range of sports, including cricket, netball, volleyball and soccer. Here, you can even try the latest craze – bubble soccer!

To pick up essentials while you’re in town, head to Centro Box Hill Shopping Centre. Box Hill Market, which is inside Centro, is where you can pick up authentic Asian produce and ingredients, for very low prices. The Whitehorse Farmers' Market, at the Whitehorse Civic Centre, is another place to pick up fresh produce, and is held every second Sunday of the month. You won't have any trouble finding your favourite Asian cuisine in Box Hill. There are restaurants which specialise in Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Malaysian, Indian, Singaporean, Thai and Korean cuisine. Melbourne locals often travel into Box Hill, just for their fill of great Asian food.

Box Hill is about halfway between the Melbourne CBD and the Dandenong Ranges. It's one of the main commuter hubs of Melbourne, so you shouldn't have any problems using the public transport system. In fact, parking is scarce in town, so you're best off travelling around Box Hill by train, tram or bus. The centre of town is only 39km from the airport, so check out these cheap flights to Melbourne and book your Box Hill accommodation now.
