Clean hostel, perfect for an overnighter

Pros: Great location. Friendly front desk and feels very safe for solo female guests.
Stay here once a week when working out of my Auckland office. Female only floor which is ideal when you're sharing a bathroom. Facilities are always immaculately clean and tidy - cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. For the first time I was allocated a room on the Greys Ave side of the building (the back) which was 100% quieter than the Vincent Street (front) of the building due to the way noise travels up from the street and the busy intersection in front of the hostel. Will definitely request my room on that side from now on! If you come after 6pm you can get free onstreet parking overnight on Greys Ave, Pitt St or Vincent Ave (meters start again at 8am). Keep an eye out on the 7-9am clearway parking on Pitt St though or you could well wake up and your car is gone. Occasional sirens from Fire Station next door, but not really a big deal.

Pros: Clean
Cons: - vacuuming started 6AM - noise from other guest and kitchen went on till midnight
The reception staff were great however maybe there is something wrong with the management? The staff started cleaning and vacuuming really loudly at around 6AM also the noise from the kitchen did not stop until midnight because they did not lock it. The time allowed for me to sleep was from 0000-0600. Next day, I was in the ladies showers room putting on make up when a man came in and told me he wants to clean the shower, I said "give me 5 mins". He then said, I could just stand there and do my thing while he cleans. Because I felt rushed, my make up palette fell on the sink and shattered. All the above experiences did not allow me to recommend this place unless you are very, very desperate because it felt like living in a boarding school. On the plus side it was decently clean.

Dear Guest, Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. I will have to investigate further on the matter as our staff start cleaning the corridors only after 10:30am. In regards to the kitchen we lock it by 10:30pm however, I will have to check with the staff on duty on why this was not done. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the hostel and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in NZ.

Convenient and easy

Just needed a room for the night as had appointments in CBD. Easy to find, close to bus stops, close to CBD, close to restaurants, clean and convenient. Breakfast was appreciated and staff were helpful.

Comfortable but noisy

This place had everything I needed and up until 7pm I thought it was great. However, construction goes on ALL night, traffic is very loud and no air conditioning means the window stays pretty open.

Dear Kathryn, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. I am glad you found the hostel to be functional. It us unfortunate that you were disturbed by the construction work next door. They are not supposed to work after 6 pm however, it looks like they are doing something they are not meant to do. We will be taking this up with them. Thank you for informing us about the same. We look forward to see you at the hostel soon.

Consistently high standard hostel accommodation

Pros: Impeccably clean, particularly like the women only floors with immaculate bathroom facilities.
Cons: There was quite a lot of night time construction noise last time. Maybe the current roof replacement job? If so, provide some complimentary ear plugs?
Location: Downhill walk to city. Easy access to bike path down to waterfront. Renkon on Pitt St is a fantastic cheap Japanese eatery only 200m up the road.
I stay here regularly when working in my city office. A perfect, clean and convenient 'bed for the night' for a professional woman working a long way from home. Receptionist is super friendly and makes an effort to welcome me back and ask about work.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, I am glad you found our property to be spotlessly clean. Our housekeeping team does a fantastic job to ensure high cleanliness levels. Thank you for bringing it to our attention about the night work that was carried out on the neighbouring building. The work was not meant to be carried out during the night. We have contacted the construction company to ensure that this does not happen in the future. Warm Regards,

Disappointed stay in Auckland

Pros: Close to the city center
Cons: bigger kitchen facilities, a proper dining room ( not 2 tables in a small, uncomfortable room), toilet/shower facilities should be on each floor
small room with refrigerator, that means you have to carry ALL your food into the kitchen, when you want to cook 2 very small kitchen facilities for the whole building (1 sink, two stoves ) with 3 people in the kitchen it is hard to turn around only one little dining room, very uncomfortable, 2 small tables, you either have to carry your cooked meal along the hall to get to the "dining room", or up to the next floor - or just sit in your bedroom all on your own and eat :-( Too many notes what is not allowed at the hostel or how to behave very expensive considering the bad comfort and poor facilities I've stayed at many hostels, but never had such bad experiences

Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you found the room too small our facilities inconvenient. Our reason for having the fridge in the room was to guarantee the safety of your items and having easy access for drinks and food you can eat in your room. Also the number of notes are kept to the minimum and for the comfort of all the residents are coming from different backgrounds and nationalities that aren't aware of the norms in NZ. I'm sorry these actions have caused you discomfort. Thank you very much. Kind Regards Jay Jon Centre Manager
