The front desk and manager needs to get their act together. My sister and I were told two different stories. The hotel was overbooked so we could chose to stay at their sister hotel for one night or all 3 . We chose 3 nights for the sister hotel, then found out that we shouldn’t have been told that, it was for only one night . Very disappointed and frustrated by the way we were treated.

We arrived at 5:00 p.m. for the 4 p.m. check in and was told our room would not be ready until 9-9:30 p.m. They offered to put us in a room with a king instead of 2 doubles. We were tired so we shared a bed. But I paid for the king. The room was spacious but not clean. The sheets were ok clean, the shower /tub did not drain. It is a great location and has a lovely lobby. We asked for a coffee pot, fan, and small refrigerator and those things were supplied.

When we arrived, we were told we couldn’t check into our room until 9 PM instead of 4 PM because they were having issues. We then had to change clothes in the gym bathroom and wait around for five hours to get our rooms. We had requested double beds several months ago, and they didn’t have any available when we got there. We then had to request a roller bed and had to wait 1.5 hours to get it. There was no remote control so we had to call maintenance to have them bring us one. The AC wasn’t working. The coffee pot was broken.

I checked in at 9:30am, was told room would be available at 4pm and they took my phone number in case room was available earlier. They stored my luggage so i could explore. Unfortunately, when i returned at 9pm to pick up my room key, my room ( and 79 other guest reservations) rooms were given away to a large group who decided to stay another night. I was not notified of this until then. I was told i could stay at another hotel without additional cost across town. By then no ubers or taxis available d/t the shows getting out so i walked the 0.6mi to the other hotel, through crowded city streets, dragging my roller bag. I’m 5’1” and female so i was not happy.

Only reason I’m giving my review a 3 star is because the staff went above and beyond in terms of service. Otherwise I would have rated this hotel a 2 star, because of the following reasons 1. We were not given our correct room reservation on the first 2 nights because the hotel was full. We originally had reserved a superior queen bed and was given a standard double bed. The only compensation they could give us was to waive the $140 fee that we needed to pay. 2. One of the double beds in our room for the first two nights, was dipping on one side AND I got some bites on my legs, most likely from Mites, they weren’t bed bugs thankfully but still having mites on your beds is not good at all. 3. The rooms were very dated and have not been maintained. The first room we were in had carpet stains and the corners of the room did not look like they were cleaned very well. The 2nd room, was slightly cleaner but parts of the headboard was falling off and the inner curtains of the window looked like they haven’t been washed in quite some time. 4. When they did finally get us the correct room, the A/C was not working and I had to come down to the front desk twice to get it fixed. No one was answering the front desk phone. ( I found out why, because they were having check in issues because of a bug in the system, so I’m giving them a bit of a break on not answering the phone) The staff were all great, but it was clear that something in their system was not working properly.

Great Location. In three days we saw 4 Broadway shows and the furthest one was only 10 minutes walk. The hotel was only 10 minutes from Grand Central where we arrived from JFK. The Hotel access to both 44th and 45th Street made it easy to get around and one of the shows we saw was at the Hudson Theatre literally NEXT DOOR to the Hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Wonderful stay!
