Not what you expect for a 4 star hotel, tiny hallways, broken elevator, loud AC, under construction.

Rebooked my room after attempting to reach out to the hotel numerous times on july 4th with the storms. Horrible horrible stay away, this is no longer Sonder it’s been taking over by a budget hotel. We saw cockroaches roaming the lobby so glad we didn’t end up staying.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Duane Street Hotel (formerly Sonder) in NYC. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout my stay. The staff (Ravi) were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help whenever I had a question. The location is one of the hotel's biggest advantages. It's very convenient for exploring the city, with subway stations, restaurants, cafés, grocery stores, and pharmacies all within a short walking distance. Everything I needed was nearby, which made my trip much easier. For improvement, I think adding a few more in-room amenities, such as a small microwave, would make the stay even better. Keep the common area clean and neat. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to New York.

Needed to call a phone number upon arrival and wait 30 minutes for a “code” to check in. Doors in hotel room don’t lock. This is an amateur show that should be avoided. Room was okay and it was cheap so if you’re okay with a crazy check in process and unlocked room then not the worst.

We never received the access code. Neither OYO nor Hotels.com would provide support. We could not check-in. (There is no front desk.) It took numerous phone calls and emails to Hotels.com to be issued a refund. Oyo never responded.

This is a very run down hotel in lower Manhattan. The entire property was pretty worn and there was a strange, abandoned cafe in the entry. The room we had was basically on the street and while the windows did a good job of blocking the sound, the constant door slamming in the hallway and stairwell more than made up for that. The shower didn’t work, there were no cups, the TV took about 15 mins of troubleshooting before it would work. We asked to be moved as soon as we saw the room but were told that wasn’t possible. I travel a ton for work and I can’t remember staying in a worse hotel. I would avoid this if you can.

We were disappointed from the start. It took 30+ minutes to check in. We booked a room with two Queen beds. When we checked in, we were told that they gave away all the rooms with queen beds. We paid more for that room and no compensation was provided. The security is sketchy at best. The same code works for every room. We realized this when we accidently went the wrong room. We did not feel safe at all. The room had a light with broken glass sticking out. It also had a very dirty bathroom.

I never leave reviews but DO NOT stay here. This location is vastly different from the pictures, and their marketing is very misleading. Took forever to check in. Front desk had no sense of urgency, and gave me my key from an old bag in a drawer... The place smelled like weed. Random beeping sounds. Felt like a freshman dorm in the hallway. Every time I went to the lobby there were people having some sort of issue with their stay. The management is being disingenuous, and must be trying to market based on the old "Sonder" reputation. This is a new owner, and they are misleading you. Spend your money somewhere else.
