The Victoria & Albert Guesthouse

"A Blue Mountains Classic"
For 25 years my family and I have driven past the Victoria and Albert wondering about staying at such an appealing looking guesthouse. Just before Xmas 2015 we did so, at last. Greeted by a charming young man on guitar at reception we were given a lovely and large ground floor family room adjacent to a superbly comfortable lounge. Upstairs on the spacious balcony was a wonderful spot for an afternoon cuppa with great views of Mt Victoria. Close to Blackheath it was a perfect base for mountain exploring. The Victoria and Albert is redolent with history and comfort. Great easy going and generous self serve breakfast and helpful but not intrusive staff. Thanks V and A.

"Beautiful, peaceful stay."
I absolutely loved Blue Mountains Manor House, the town of Mount Victoria, and the surrounding nature walks. The nice people who run the Blue Mountains Manor House were helpful and kind. I loved my stay because of the easy, gentle atmosphere and the quiet. If you are looking for a glamorous, exciting time; then this is not for you, but I had a great time precisely because I was hoping for an authentic peaceful time. I was grateful for the nice people, the ease of getting around by foot. (I came up by the train and easily walked to the hotel, as well as to the walking trails, the pub, and the charming little movie theater.) I wish the owners of Blue Mountain Manor House the best, and would love to return!

"Cost Effective Central Location"
Short drive to most of what the Blue Mountains has to offer, and at a great price. Rooms clean & comfy, great for a short break or just passing through. The staff were absolutely friendly and awesome. The 'selfie' poolside BBQ hit the spot after a long days travel despite the rain. Yummy continental breakfast the next morning, before a day at Scenic World, just down the road, before heading onward on our journey sealed it. Will return soon...

"Peaceful stay in the Misty Mountains"
The Gardeners Inn offered a big room that was very clean with comfy beds. The only thing that was missing was a little fridge for your milk. The staff were great and facitilites reasonable. Good food at the pub below. Like to see more on the history of the place as the little bit that was there seemed interesting. We always like staying here when we need to get away to an uncrowded place.

The Hydro Majestic Hotel

52 - 88 Great Western Highway, Medlow Bath - Map
"Hydro stay"
We booked into the Hydro for one night to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We chose a room with a view, (an extra $50) which was silly because it was misty the whole time and we could not see down into the valley. I wouldn't take this option again as there are plenty of places where you can enjoy the view throughout the hotel. The room we had was quite small, not enough space for an arm chair, but that didnt matter as there are plenty of places to sit inside and outside to enjoy the ambience of the place. We had dinner in the Wintergarden restaurant. The staff were plentiful and very attentive. We enjoyed the 2 course meal with the exception of the beef dish which was stringy and wasn't what we expected. The lamb was delicious as was the Entrees. A lovely place to stay with lots of history to take in through photographs and displays. We would like to return.

    Accommodation In Mount Victoria

How would you like a cosy little mountain retreat? Our select Little Hartley accommodation is the perfect base for exploring the fascinating heritage area in the magnificent Blue Mountains.

Little Hartley is a rural village in the Blue Mountains area of New South Wales. It lies just off the Great Western Highway, about 150km west of Sydney and 20km southeast of Lithgow and is part of a heritage area including Hartley and Hartley Vale. This is ‘explorer country’ where you will feel like you are taking a step back in time. In the 1830s, Hartley was one of the first settlements west of the Blue Mountains and made it possible to expand and develop inland Australia. Explorers and pioneers were helping to open up the wild mountain country making it accessible and habitable. In the 1850s the area was busy and prosperous. Strzelecki was one of the first to find gold in Australia near Hartley, and it was soon a centre for prospectors who headed to the area to try their luck.

In Little Hartley you can enjoy quiet and privacy. In nearby Hartley you can enjoy the traditional homesteads, some transformed into art galleries, cafes or pioneer museums. Visit the Hartley Historic Village, which preserves the colonial buildings and the area’s rich history. When you want to venture further, take the highway and you’ll have easy access to the village of Mount Victoria about 10km to the southeast and the highest point in the Blue Mountains. The famous Jenolan Caves are also only 50km away and are a perfect destination for a day trip. For something different, why not ditch the car and opt for a ride on the Zigzag Railway or find the perfect walking or horse-riding track? You’ll experience what it might have been like for the early explorers seeing the area almost 200 years ago. The regional centre, Lithgow, is only 15km to the northwest and has plenty of shopping, cafes and attractions of its own. The whole region is a photographer’s paradise. The rugged mountain scenery and the magnificent vistas over valleys and forests are awe-inspiring – the ideal way to recharge your batteries.

Ready to explore? Book your Little Hartley hotel with us below! Experiencing this untouched beauty will make you feel as though you are discovering this stunning region for the very first time!
