Great staff but hotel needs maintenance

The staff is outstanding but the hotel has seen better days & needs maintenance & repairs. The deadbolt on the door to our room would not lock. Carpets are stained, walls are scuffed, paint is chipped etc.

Okay for a night

My teenager son and I stayed overnight at this hotel, and booked it mainly because of the location and price. Location is good, although the construction work on the tramlines on Aytoun St made access via foot and taxi difficult. The hotel itself is as one would expect from an Ibis Styles… budget, but with some effort to incorporate a bit of style. The staff members we dealt with were great - helpful and efficient. The room itself was very ordinary. Bathroom was pretty good, but only one towel (for a twin room), and the bedroom was very average. Quite cramped, the beds weren’t particularly comfortable, and the window looked out onto a rooftop of aircon units… dark and depressing. No real complaints given the price paid, but I definitely wouldn’t stay here for longer than a night. All in all, an okay experience. Decent enough for a one night stopover, but that would be about it for me personally.

Great location, dated and tacky hotel

Our hotel is clean but dated. The downstairs area was nice but the design of my room was very tacky and in need of updating the room was clean but didn’t feel it because it had a black and grey carpet and blank grey walls covered in several peeling vinyl stickers. The bed was quite lumpy, which I didn’t realise until I got to bed at about 1am, so I woke up with a bad back which was a shame. It wasn’t too bad for the price, but I probably wouldn’t stay again. On the plus side, it is in a perfect and ve Ty central location to explore the city on foot or by tram or train.
