Friendly & courteous staff. Prompt check in and check out. Clean, well equipped room. Fantastic pool and spa. Short distance to TheBus stops, International Market Place, ABC Stores, Kuhio Avenue and Kalakaua Avenue, and Waikiki Beach. I would certainly stay at Skyline Island Colony Hotel again.

I’ll preface this by saying I don’t mind older hotels, provided they’re clean and well kept. The IC is neither anymore. We’ve stayed here before but won’t be back. It was not only dated, but in quite a state of disrepair and dirty. The mattresses and pillows were both lumpy and rock hard with no support. And to top it off, the pool was closed for annual maintenance but neither the hotel or hotels.com gave us any warning. Super disappointed.

There were roaches in the room, the pillow was so hard and uncomfortable.. they offer room cleaning once every 3 days. The pool is shut down for two weeks. We requested a high floor in advance and were still given one of the lowest ones.

Wow. What a “stay”. This review will be mainly based on the hotel itself and partially the staffs. All staffs I encountered were friendly. But, friendly will not fix the their roach problem. I checked in at the hotel at 3pm. I noticed it was a little outdated and carpets and furniture were stained ( dog friendly hotel). I’m not picky so I didn’t mind it, plus it was a nice view of the Ala Wai Canal. I woke up at 6am in the morning to 5+ cockroaches crawling all over my friend’s toothbrush! Imagine waking up later in the day, you’d never know cockroaches were there! My friend would have been brushing her teeth with diseased ridden pests. I was disgusted, and quickly went to front desk. I showed the receptionist Shanel the video, she was apologetic but not surprised. They did not refund my LESS than 24 hour stay. Only the amenities fees and parking. We ended stay at Best Western near Honolulu airport. Which was amazing, CLEAN, friendly staffs, no amenities fees, and free breakfast for to-go and dine in! For much cheaper may I add.

As per the reservation that I made it was noted check in time is not until 3 pm. As such it seemed to be perfect time when my class would be ending. Got to the hotel at 330 where the line to check in was long. The woman checking me in told me the room is not ready and I’ll have to wait but that was all she said. So I sat in the lobby for 2 hours with no update nothing. So I began to contact Expedia for a solution they were not much help stating that check ins begin at 3 but doesn’t mean the room will be ready by 3 which is the stupidest thing . I ended up calling hotels in the area to verify that if I made a reservation and checked in right now that I would be assured that a room would be ready for me. I was able to find one couple blocks away walked over checked in and the room was ready!
