Getting to and Around Coolangatta

Fly into Gold Coast Airport (OOL) and get yourself Coolangatta car hire for the quick drive to your hotel. Once you’re settled in, you can park the car and hoof it through town—or ride a bike if you’re so inclined. If you want to explore other areas of the Gold Coast like Surfers Paradise or Tweed Heads you can use the train, taxi or bus services.

Visiting Coolangatta

Where do we start? There are so many fun things to do in this town, we could spend all day telling you about them. But since we don’t have all day, we’ll just give you a few to consider. Start off with a trip to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in the nearby town of Currumbin. Hang out with dingoes, kangaroos, koalas and rainbow lorikeets. You can even sign up for a Segway Safari or test out your swinging skills at the TreeTop Challenge.

Want to enjoy Coolangatta holidays from the stratosphere? Make a reservation with Gold Coast Skydiving, say a Hail Mary and jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Don’t worry, you’ll have a certified instructor strapped to your back the entire time. You’ll zoom toward the earth at ridiculous speeds while the beautiful scenery below gets closer and closer. Eventually your parachute will deploy and you’ll be treated to the best views of your life while you slowly drift to the sand. Be sure to kiss the ground after you land.

You’re going to want a few beers during holidays to Coolangatta so take your pick from about a million places that serve cold ones. Any of the Surf Life Saving Clubs from Snapper Rocks down to Kirra have awesome beachfront bars. There’s also the option of heading to The Strand, where there’s pubs upon pubs on pubs.
