Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Riverwalk. Everything ended up being perfectly fine, and just a couple of things led to me giving it a 4 instead of a 5.
The internet was a *struggle*. We had four devices between us, and none of them wanted to connect. Because we're frequent Hilton visitors, our devices kept wanting to connect to the stronger Hampton Inn signal from next door, but of course we couldn't register for it because we weren't staying there. It took over an hour to get our devices to actually connect to the HGI network, which is not ideal for a remote work situation. And the connection was super slow; I speed tested several times and never got more than 10 MBPS.
The bed was also rough. We spend an average of 2.5 months traveling domestically each year, and I can't quite recall the last time I had back pain as bad as I did after five nights at this hotel.
However, the place was SUPER clean. The toiletries are perfectly fine. We had ample towels and other amenities without needing housekeeping. The location is great - very close to Clark & Lake where you can get almost all of the trains. And because of the hotel layout, noisy neighbors are hard to come by - at most, you're near three other rooms, which means you're going to have a restful stay unless you get really unlucky with neighbors. Gym was great, and lobby was inviting. We'd return (and hope for a better draw on beds!).
