Perfect location — lean, quiet and comfortable

The location of the hostel is perfect — in the Loop, surrounded by subway stations and stores. I had my own room (with shared bathroom) which was clean, quiet and comfortable. Perfect for a solo trip.

I had a fantastic stay at HI Chicago! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful—especially when I realized I had forgotten a few things, they really went out of their way to assist me. I upgraded from a 2 star to a 3 star as the staff were super friendly this go around. I won't give it higher as I wrote plenty of time in advance as asked for a bottom buck as I'm 63 and was told that 'it's first come first serve". I would pay for a private room, so I don't have to worry about that issue, but a private room costs just as much and, in some cases, more than staying in a hotel like the Congress Inn.
