We are saddened to read that your room and the hotel was not up to expectations as while we are unable to deny the general condition of the room and hotel given its age, the hotel conducted a de-branding exercise last year by removing the Mercure brand and returning the hotel to its original name the Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide to enable us to reposition it as an economy hotel in the twilight of its existence as the intention is to completely redevelop the property in the not-too-distant future. A wonderful "olde worlde" experience with modern facilities, polite and supportive staff, good taxi "drop off bay" under cover, as well as being immediately adjacent to the central railway station and tramway system - right next door was a really enjoyable bistro/hotel and only 100 metres from the central shopping district. I had stayed at the Grosvenor earlier this year & was very happy with the room, staff etc. however this time I was a little disappointed as the bed was old & creaking, & the doona wasn't big enough for the bed! As it was only me, it was okay, but if a couple were sleeping there, someone would be getting cold. But the room was clean (as previous) & the bathroom was spotless.

The property is very dated, my bathroom had a strong distinct sewerage smell which was extremely unpleasant and my windows looked straight into a wall so natural light was minimal and outlook awful. No mini bar items available.
