We recently stayed at Occidental Xcaret, and the check-in process was a mess. It took us over an hour to check in, despite there being very few people in line. The staff member seemed disorganized, leaving and returning multiple times without explanation. Additionally, despite booking through Expedia, we weren’t offered any room upgrades, which was disappointing. Overall, a frustrating start to our stay. Now, let's talk about the food—honestly, it was awful. The dishes were bland, lacked flavor, and were just downright disgusting at times. It was incredibly disappointing, especially considering this is a resort where you expect better quality meals.
To make matters worse, the dinner restaurants that required reservations were a complete joke. The reservations system was chaotic, and the actual dining experience didn’t even come close to justifying the wait. The food quality was no better at these places either.
Given the high expectations I had for this property, I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. I hope the hotel management addresses these issues to improve the experience for future guests.
