This was our first time visiting Mexico, and the hotel provided us with a very positive experience. The food was good, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We did encounter a small issue with our room—we had paid for a Deluxe King but were given a Double Queen instead. The exterior could use some improvement, but overall, the service was very good.

The property is quite nice, but 3 things bring it down in my opinion. 1) Everyone is trying to sell you a timeshare, even the folks you make restaurant reservations with 2) The food is not that great and lastly, the staff gives conflicting information in regard to restaurant hours and what days they are open or closed to guests.

The property features a unique and diverse landscape incorporating animals throughout the property and beautiful views of the ocean. Unfortunately the vacation club staff and the scam sales tactics of the team. Do you leave a bit of a sour taste paired with dinner reservations, not being upheld and not being offered the site offers 11 restaurants with three bars, however we found in our stay that most restaurants are not open for example on our first night we were able to go to Paco’s tacos however this restaurant did not open for the duration of our stay (5 days). Furthermore, we found the food quality to be ok, with plenty of options. We would hope this site could incorporate an app that would allow for dinner reservations without the need of seeking a concierge. On our second day, we were also given horrible direction on how to book our dinner reservations after showing up at the lobby guest services. Staff had suggested that we should return back to our room lobby 22 as they would be willing to accept our dinner reservations, staff advised that we could do this anytime before 4 PM however, when we want to make our dinner reservations at 145 Stafford stated that all restaurants were now reserved. Leaving us one night down for the international restaurants and having to settle for the al a carte buffet. Overall, we would return back to the resort however we would avoid the vacation club.

Property and resort is absolutely beautiful overall. They just meed to work on some important issues. The rooms (mainly washrooms) are very dated and in rough shape. Sliding doors to balconies don't lock, yet are so stuff to open you don't really need to worry. Royal Club had very poor service around the pool, towels not cleaned up and not enough towels for people. Drink service around the pool was very infrequent if at all, faster to go to the restaurant bar. Hours for restaurants listed on the website are completely inaccurate and there is no way of receiving any accurate information. Our jacuzzi tub had rusty water and a lot of sediment, that and it was extremely old. One very wrong thing is that they don't replace your coffee cups and glasses at all, they are simply wiped out with a rag. Who knows where that rag has been. One of the pictures attached is a coffee cup after it was wiped out!!

I don’t know if it’s because it’s low season but staff was not helpful, when you wanted to get food at the buffets they always “ran out” of the good stuff and the good restaurants don’t open everyday.

We had a nice time, the only thing i would make some improvement is the food. I believe the hotel can do better with the buffet food. I found myself not liking anything. I know is mexico, but people from all over the world travel there so a variety of food would be nice and that actuallt taste good.

Stayed for 6 nights. Pros: Walkable, lots to do in terms of activities, staff was polite and helpful, multiple areas to eat/drink, close to xcaret park. Tons of animal sightings, place is physically beautiful. You could rent sports equipment, snorkel, go to the spa ($$), participate in dance lessons, workouts, etc. Cons: The shower was finicky, the room smelled musty until we aired it out, some places only open occasionally or closed early. We didn't get a welcome tour (maybe because we arrived too late? 7pm?) so there was some exploring we had to do to find out where to go/what was open. Food was consistent at all buffets, with small variability. It wasn't top tier but there was always something to eat. When you book you get some options to book vouchers for the a la carte restaurants. We chose El Pescador (2/5) and La Hacienda (4/5). Pretty sure my travel buddy got food poisoning from El Pescador, and it was the poorest service we received. La Hacienda was friendly and the food was nice. Service was great. I would 100% come here again. :)
