The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, so it is walking distance to virtually all major attractions and lively streets. The hotel itself is historic and the rooms appear to be recently renovated, however we found it lacked a bit of personality and felt a lot like any other generic hotel room. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were unfortunately not. Perhaps it is the older building, but the walls were very thin and we were woken up a number of times by people conversing in the halls and slamming doors. The valet service was quick and accommodating. Overall, it was alright but I would prefer to stay at one of the city’s boutique hotels next time for basically the same price.

Lovely hotel.
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff in both the hotel and restaurant were very friendly. The only issue we had was the housekeeper knocking on our door at 8:15 AM to clean our room. We solved that problem for the rest of our stay by keeping the Bo not disturb sign on the door.

As we approached the border going back into the US, we discovered we had left our US passports back in our room safe. We contacted the Lord Elgin and they immediately retrieved our passports and UPS'd them back to our home, saving us 3-4 hours of driving time. Very responsive staff.

This a great property in a great location in Downtown Ottawa. The hotel itself has a “fairmont” feel to it and it’s located in the heart of the city. You can easily walk to parliament, the Rideau canal, Byward Market, shopping and restaurants.
