The stay began with an angry taxi driver from airport who didn’t want to go there. (No shuttle) The front desk was unable to provide working room key so had to keep open with latch if I left. The construction was no problem and breakfast was great but you need to run shower to get some moisture in the air. Water is $2 a bottle

wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times because our daughter attends Carleton University, but the property has been in steady decline. This most recent stay was unacceptable, especially since we paid full price. Check-in was chaotic. The lobby was overwhelmed, construction workers were cutting tile and moving through guest areas, and there was dust and mess everywhere with no effort to separate guests from construction. The entire lower level smelled strongly of wet dog. The breakfast experience highlighted how poorly this hotel is run. Because the breakfast area was under construction, we were seated elsewhere and only then told we needed breakfast tickets—something we were never given at check-in. When I went to the front desk and explained our complete dismay, we were offered no discount or compensation. Instead, we were given one breakfast ticket and told it would cost another twenty-something dollars per person to eat from trays of food that were unappealing and poorly presented. The pool and hot tub were unusable due to overwhelming chlorine levels that burned your eyes and bleached bathing suits. The room was clean, but the shower pressure was awful, the bathroom fan was extremely loud, and we were woken at 2 a.m. by unsupervised children running and screaming overhead. The front desk staff were unprofessional, more focused on loud personal conversations than helping guests. This hotel feels mismanaged and is coming unglued. We will not be returning.
