We love the property itself but it is SO unfortunate that nearby Byward market is so dirty and has a serious problem with homeless individuals. Relocation of salvation army might help😢

This hotel scores on its location and historic ambience, within easy walking to Ottawa’s must see attractions. Breakfast offerings were disappointing for what one would expect at a Fairmont Hotel . The food was served cold on our first morning and because of that we chose to eat elsewhere for the remaining 4 days of our stay. Our room on the first floor was small but comfortable and well serviced by housekeeping. Unfortunately our room was situated above a loading area, and our sleep was disrupted late nights/ early mornings by trucks loading and unloading.

The aura is worth every penny

Staying at this hotel is a treat. The ambiance, the history, the staff are lovely. It is right in the centre of things, so very convenient. The only negatives are that one needs to wait for the car, wait for the luggage rack. I am fine with taking down my own luggage - everyone is checking out at the same time, there are not enough carts, etc. But it appears that one cannot bring up one's own cart to bring down the luggage, and we had to wait for a porter to be available. The car was another long wait. Staff should tell you to book ahead. The pool is wonderful but there needs to be more chairs.

Lovely hotel in great location

Large room. Asked for parliament view which it had but got nature room so one medium window and two tiny windows. Would have preferred a picture window. Anyway room nice. Bed comfortable. Valet parking only. Great location to walk and see main sites.

The Fairmont Château Laurier is undeniably a beautiful and historic hotel, with stunning architecture and a wonderful atmosphere. However, I found that some areas need improvement. The washrooms feel quite old and could benefit from updates to match the elegance of the rest of the property. During our dining experience, the service was much slower than expected. We had the buffet and ordered something freshly made, but unfortunately, it was only served as we were leaving. For the prices being charged, I believe the level of service should be more consistent and timely. Overall, the setting is impressive, but both the dining experience and facilities need to be brought up to the standard you expect when paying premium prices.

This property was an absolute dream to stay at. The only area we found any kind of fault with ( and it was minimal ), we’ve never stayed in such an amazing hotel and were so used to paying everything by debit/credit, so we don’t carry cash on us. We got our keys at check in, went to our room and the keys hadn’t been activated. We called down to front desk and they sent someone up with replacement activated keys. We didn’t even think about tipping him. However, because of that he wouldn’t make eye contact with us the rest of the trip. Other than that it was fabulous. Make sure to carry smaller bills with you for tipping.

Grand old hotel with special charm and lots of history right downtown Ottawa.

Room was clean and well maintained as you would expect from a Fairmont. The older rooms definitely feel a bit cramped. Overall positive experience, but both the check in and check out process took well over 30 minutes to accomplish. The lines were blocking the lobby
